3、NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are 20 micrometre film build, black waterborne electrocoat body primer and associated makeup feed components applied by the cathodic deposition process. The requirements of this specification are identical to those of specification ES

4、B-M64J26-C1 through C4 except as detailed below. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for a paint system for which, when properly electrodeposited on vehicle bodies, sheet metal components or small parts, will provide good corrosion resistance, adhesion and enamel holdout pro

5、perties. ESZ-M64J26-A1: This primer is applied directly over zinc phosphate coated cold rolled steel, galvanized and any other type of steel classified as precoated, as well as to aluminum substrates. Typical applications are as follows: . Visible Exterior Surfaces: The electrocoated primer film may

6、 be followed by an approved primer-surfacer and exterior enamel color coat. The electrocoat primer, primer-surfacer, and enamel are all baked separately. . Visible Interior Surface: The backed electrocoated primer film is followed by an enamel color coat. . Non-visible Interior or Underbody Surfaces

7、: The baked electrocoated primer film is not usually followed by an additional primer or enamel color coat. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION ESZ-M64J26-A1/A2/A3/A4 Page 2 of 2 ESZ-M64J26-A2: This material is make-up feed material used to replenish the resins of the initial fill electrocoat bath. E

8、SZ-M64J26-A3: This material is make-up feed material used to replenish the pigments of the initial fill electrocoat bath. ESZ-M64J26-A4: This additive is a make-up feed material for controlling flow characteristics of the primer. This additive is used as recommended by the supplier. 3. REQUIREMENTS

9、ESZ-M64J26-A1 cationic electrocoat primer shall meet all detailed requirements of the ESB-M64J26-C1 specification, except the color shall be black and the CIE L*a*b* values shall be: A suffix L* = TBA a* = TBA b* = TBA These requirements apply to both laboratory prepared and assembly plant electroco

10、at tank materials. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materia

11、ls Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this

12、 specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. In addition to meeting the requirements of this specification, the materials will be assessed for suitability for intended applications as part of the approval process

13、. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List. 5.
