SCOPE The material defined by this specification us an acid solution used to convert standard bake acrylic enamels and plyester basecoat/clearcoat enamels, to low bake paint repair coatings. 2. APPLICATION Catalyse

3、d low bake in-plant repair of painted passenger car exterior surfaces. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 SPECIFIC GRAVITY, at 25 C 0.990-1.020 3.2 ACIS NUMBER 160 (ASTM D 1467) 3.3 FLASH POINT, C, min, 23 (ASTM D 56) 3.4 COMPOSITION (PERCENT BY WEIGHT) Maleic Acid 20 Cellosolve, or other solvent 80 3.5 INCORPORAT

4、ION OF CATALYST (Catalyst is added to reduced enamel) ESZM50J109A acrylic enamel requires 3% by volume. ESBGM32J105D1/D2 Basecoat portion is not catalysed. Catalyst is incorporation into clearcoat at 5% by volume under following conditions: Clearcoat Viscosity 25 +/- 0.1 C 24-28s (ASTM D 1200) Clear

5、coat Non-Volatile 35-39% (FLTM BI 2-1) 3.6 BAKE SCHEDULE 20 minutes at 95 C, achieving 15 minutes at 95 C. Metal Temperature. Minimum bake: 10 minutes at 88 C. Metal Temperature. (ISIR) 3.8 PERFORMANCE Catalysed repair enamel applied per requirements of the standard bake system. Final appearance gloss, intercoat adhesion, weathering and resistance properties shall be consist

7、ent with the standard requirements. Catalysed repair film shall have Tukon value of 4 K.H.N. minimum. 3.8 PRODUCTION MATERIAL STANDARD Production shipments shall be equivalent to approved purchase samples in laboratory and production use. 3.9 SUPPLIER RESPONSIBILITY All material supplied to this spe

8、cification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes in the properties composition construction, colour, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not sucj ch

9、anges affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing and Materials Engineering of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of PEO Materials Engineering. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted wi

10、th the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different prefix or suffix is specified on the engineering document for the appl

11、ication. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by Materials Engineering. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing Design and Material Engineering. Upon request, the Supplier shall s

12、ubmit to Materials Engineering its own laboratory report to the specification (test results, not nominal value), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Materials Approved Source List. 5. TOXICITY-

13、OBJECTIONABLE ODOR The material shall contain no benzol (benzene), chlorinated or other toxic compounds, or hydrolysable chlorine derivatives, nor have an obnoxious or objectionable odor. 6. GENERAL INFORMATION This information is for direction of the user and is a requirement for the supplier. This material has a useable shelf life, which must be stated on the light stabilized containers supplied, sue to the degenerative nature of the acid catalyst. It is requires that the supplier label his containers with a date of manufacture and “use by date“ stated.
