、OARD Application This procedure is used to determine the amount of asphalt, extender and paper in sound deadening and insulating materials such as dash insulators. Apparatus Required Extraction Apparatus Soxhlet - Pyrex brand glass (see illustration). Extractor - Medium size, top joint 45/50, bottom
、 joint 24/40 Condenser - Allihn type, medium size, with joint No. 45/50 Flask - Flat bottom, short neck, 250 mL capacity with joint No. 24/40 Extraction Thimble - Paper, single thickness, 80 x 33 mm, modified by suspending a brass screen inside thimble as shown in Figure 1. Screen has 0.2 mm opening
、s and is cut to fit I.D. of thimble. Hot Plate - Extraction ty pe with variable heat control. Solvent - Trichlorethylene Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for
、 not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Cut two samples of the insulation board or material to be tested, 50 mm long by 25 mm wide. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD AV 001-01 Page 2 of 3 Copyright 2000, Ford Global Technologies, I
、nc. 2. Insert wire screen in extraction thimble by means of wire hooks and weigh assembly. 3. Add test sample to thimble and weigh. 4. Place thimble containing sample in extractor, add 160 mL of trichlorethylene to flask and assemble extraction apparatus. 5. Adjust temperature of hot plate and reflu
