2、d determines the flexibility of automotive electrical cable exposed to low temperature environments. Apparatus Required Cold Chamber Capable of maintaining - 40 +/ - 2 C Weights Appropriate for requirements as specified in Tables 1 and 2 Mandrel Diameter of 25 mm; steel Test Apparatus - see Figures

3、1 and 2 Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a con trolled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure

4、Method A - Winding Test 1. Prepare test specimen as required by the re levant Engineering Materials Specification. 2. Attach one end of the test specimen to a 25 mm rotatable mandrel. Load the other end vertically by weight in accordance with Tables 1 or 2 (see Figure 1). 3. Keep weight loaded speci

5、men for 90 h at 23 +/ - 2 C and 80 +/ - 5 % relative humidity in a climatic cabinet. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BB 101-17 Page 2 of 5 Copyright 2000, Ford Globa l Technologies, Inc. 4. Immediately afterwards subject the test specimen for 4 h to - 25 +/ - 2 C if standard wall thickness insulation (s

6、ee Table 1), or - 40 +/ - 2 C if thin wall thickness insulation (see Table 2). 5. After being subjected to the cold temperature, unwrap from the 25 mm mandrel and rewrap the specimen around the mandrel at least 4 times as specified in Tables 1 or 2. Pitch not to exceed 2 times the maximum overall di

7、ameter of the cable. 6. The insulat ion must not show puncture, crack or break. The conductor must not protrude from the insulation sheath and not be pushed out. Method B - Impact Test 1. Prepare test specimen as required by the relevant Engineering Materials Specification. 2. Perform th e impact te

8、st in 5 places separated by at least 100 mm using the apparatus shown in Figure 2. The mass of the hammer shall be 300 g. 3. Place the apparatus, positioned on a pad of sponge rubber of 40 mm thickness, together with the specimens in a cold ca binet at a temperature of - 15 +/ - 2 C for at least 16

9、h. 4. At the end of 16 h, place the sample parallel to the steel base. The hammer is then allowed to fall from a height of 100 mm. 5. The insulation must not show puncture, crack or break. The cond uctor must not protrude from the insulation sheath and not be pushed out. Chemicals, materials, parts,

10、 and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
