2、AW COMPOUNDS AND RUST PREVENTATIVE OILS Application This procedure is used to evaluate the effects of rust preventatives and draw compounds on steel relative to corrosion, cleanability and ability to be phosphated. It involves exposing steel panels which have been coated with the rust preventative o

3、r draw compound in question to a condensing water vapor atmosphere. The panels are then evaluated, cleaned and phosphated and subsequently reevaluated. 7、th and safety comments. Test Grid Transparent grid marked off with a section 50 x 230 mm. (Refer to Figure 2.) Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less th

8、an 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Procedure “A“ - Drawing Oils and Compounds 1. Lay steel panels horizontally on a flat surface over paper toweling. Wipe polished surface clean with isopropanol. Air dry thoroughly. 2. Mix compounds as

9、 specified by plant use, Manufacturing Standard or supplier recommendations. 3. Apply oil or mixed compound to upper quarter of panel face, drawing down with applicator (draw bar clearance equal to 0.08 mm) to achieve a wet film 50 mm wide. 4. Hang or stand panels upright; allow to air dry 8 h at 23

10、 +/- 2 C or 30 minutes at 60 C. 5. Redraw over material film with clean applicator. Corrosion (Rust and Stain) 6. Place panels (with test surface face down) on condensing humidity unit maintained at 38 C and 100 % humidity for 72 h. A currently approved material may be used as control. Note: Test pa

11、nels placed on cabinet frame act as a roof for the test chamber. Glass blanks may be required to complete enclosure of the test chamber roof. (Refer to Figure 1.) 12、rid, evaluate and report percent rust per ASTM D 610 and/or presence of stain within the 930 cm2 area of the draw pattern, disregarding any corrosion within 13 mm from the panel edge. Cleanability/Phosphatability 8. Rust-free panels shall be wiped with kerosene, washed and phosphated through assembl

13、y plant system. Include a clean steel panel as control. 9. Report evidence of unremoved drawing oil or compound on test panel, if present. 10. Evaluate control and test panels for zinc phosphate coating weight (FLTM AQ 101-02 and FLTM AQ 101-03), texture and appearance. Note: The coating weight of t

14、he test and the control panels should meet the applicable Engineering Specification and the texture and appearance of the test panel(s) should be equal to or better than that of the control panel. Procedure “B“ - Rust Preventative Oils 1. Lay steel panels horizontally on a flat surface over paper to

15、weling. Wipe polished surface with isopropanol. Air dry thoroughly. 2. Apply a light film of M-558 oil to cleaned panel surface with paper towel, wiping away excess. 3. Apply rust preventative oil to upper quarter of panel face, drawing down with applicator (draw bar clearance equal to 0.005 mm to a

16、chieve a wet film 50 mm wide. 4. Hang or stand upright 20 minutes at 23 +/- 2 C. 5. Test per Procedure “A“, steps 6 - 10. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its
