、 method is used to determine the resistance of corrosion protective waxes to shrinkage and cracking in cavities. Scope The wax is applied to a suitable preformed test panel (e.g., a simulated door clinch flange inner) and conditioned at constant time and temperature before evaluation. Apparatus Requ
、ired Forced Air Oven/Thermostatically-Controlled Chamber Must be capable of maintaining 23 +/- 2 C. Hypodermic Syringe 10 mL polypropylene syringe for wax application to test panels. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and test
、ed under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Stir the rust-preventive compound for 15 minutes at 1 500 cycles per minute at 23 +/- 2 C. 2. Immediately apply 2 - 4 mL of the test rust-preventive compound to the test panel assembly. The application should be at a nominal 70 mm
、 height along the width of the front side of the test panel. The wax distribution on the front side panel and the drainage into the junction of the clinch flange should be uniform, free from air bubbles and discontinuities. 3. Repeat Steps 1 - 2 for the reference rust-preventive compound. 4. Allow 1
、 minute conditioning after rust-preventive compound application and then place the assemblies into the oven or test chamber for 24 h at 23 +/-2 C. Evaluation Examine the test compound for coverage, shrinkage, cracks, and voids. Compare to the reference compound relative to the above issues. Chemical
