2、sed as a qualification test for new formulations based on an evaluation of corrosion protection, inhibitor life and solution stability. Apparat us Req ui red The test shall be run using a Ford “5.0 liter“ (302 CID) OHV eight cylinder engine, equipped with an aluminum water outlet. Corrosion shall be

3、 evaluated using ASTM Corrosion Test Metal Coupons (ASTM D 1384) or equivalent. An induction dynamometer, or equivalent, with suitable controls, indicators and records to operate and control the test shall be used. The test radiator is immersed in a cooling tank and the engine coolant is maintained

A holder located between the supply tank and the radiator, to hold the corrosion test coupons, shall be electrically grounded to the engine block and radiator to eliminate differences in potential between these parts. 5、nditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 OC and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Test Procedure Prepara

6、tion of Engine Due to the length and severity of the test and the desire to insure against coolant leakage, it is recommended that the cylinder heads, water pump, intake manifold and water outlet be removed from the new engine. Clean all mating surfaces and install new gaskets, using a gasket sealer

7、 on all surfaces. It is also recommended that tangential screw-type clamps be used to insure against leakage at hose connections. The cooling system is cleaned prior to each test. Kerosene, isopropanol and hot water flushes are used followed by an oxalic acid cooling system cleaner and neutralizer.

8、(See Appendix 1) This sequence is repeated, if necessary, to obtain a clean system. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BL 002-01 Operating Conditions The engine components shall be assembled to provide a complete system with the coolant circulating through the block and radiator. The coolant shall be sampl

Periodic checks and additions of specified coolant mixture should be made to insure normal operating level and minimum air content in the cooling system. This equilibrium is indicated

10、when the engine, after each restart, ejects through the overflow tube a small amount of excess coolant, which is collected and returned to the system at the next stop and restart interval. The following test conditions shall be maintained: Radiator Coolant Concentration* Matching 5.0 liter (302 CID)
