Apparatus Required Crockmeter Must have a cylindrical acrylic, brass, or wooden finger, 16 mm in diameter, which has a flat, smooth end and slightly rounded edges to prevent abrading. The cylindrical finger shall exert a force of 9 N on the test material and shall have

7、 Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 “C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Dry Crocking 1. Allow the
8、fabric test specimens and the crockmeter cloth to attain moisture equilibrium at a temperature of 23 +/- 2 OC, in an atmosphere having a relative humidity of 50 +/- 5 %. 2. Fasten the fabric test specimen securely to the base of the crockmeter so that it is flat. 3. Mount two 50 x 50 mm crockmeter c
9、loths over the end of the finger of the crockmeter, with the weave oblique to the direction of rubbing. The second layer of crockmeter cloth is used to prevent slippage of the primary crockmeter cloth during the test. 4. Move the finger across the fabric test specimen for ten complete back and forth
10、 cycles, at a rate of 1 cycle per second. 5. Remove the crockmeter cloth from the finger and evaluate. 11、meter cloths over the end of the crockmeter finger, saturate them with distilled or deionized water. Prior to evaluating the tested wet crockmeter cloths for color transfer, dry them in an oven at 82 +/- 2 OC, and allow them to regain moisture equilibrium at 23 +/- 2 OC and 50 +/- 5 % relative humid
12、ity. Eva1 uate Calibrate the spectrophotometer of colorimeter according to the manufacturers instructions. Prior to instrumental measurement of the crockmeter cloths, remove fibers of the tested fabric by lightly patting the crockmeter cloths with cellophane tape. Place the crockmeter cloth over the
13、 instruments sample port, backed with 4 layers of unstained crockmeter cloth. Place a white tile, face down over the cloths. Take one instrumental reading in each of two opposite corners (unstained areas) of the crockmeter cloth, rotating the cloth 90“ between readings. Average the readings and stor
14、e them as the “Standard Ave rag e“. Reposition the crockmeter cloth on the sample port so that the stained (crocked) area is centered over the port. Take 1 reading, rotate the crockmeter cloth go“, recenter over the port, and take a second reading. Average the readings and enter them as the “Sample Average“. Note and record the CIELAB *DE value. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
