2、t adhesion and lint retention of seating fabrics. Apparatus and Materials Required Pilling Tester The pilling tester is described in ASTM D3511 and modified to hold the test fabric to the rotating platform. 7、. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities. Procedure for Lint Adhesion, Retention 1. Cut three fabric specimens with the dimensions as shown in Figure 2. Label one test specimen “Lint Adhesion” and one specimen “Lint Retention- Vacuum” and one specimen “Li

8、nt Retention Lint Roller”. 2. Tightly secure specimens to the board (Figure 3) using a drill or ratchet (Figure 4). The specimens must be flat and secure to prevent wrinkling during the test. 3. Mount a new cotton cloth on each round-shaped holder and secure with the rubber “O“ ring as shown in Figu

9、re 1b. Place the holder on the station such that the lint cloth is in contact with A surface of fabric (see Figure 5). 4. Start the machine to rub the lint cloth on the face fabric for 57 cycles (1 minute). 5. Remove “Lint Adhesion” specimen from the wood board. Do not touch the face of the fabric o

10、r remove any loose fibers. Evaluate Lint Adhesion using guide below. 6. For “Lint Retention - Vacuum”, vacuum the specimen with a clean brush attachment while on the wood board using 10 strokes (one stroke is the back and forth motion) with brush attachment sweeping from edge to edge along length of

11、 specimen. Evaluate “Lint Retention Vacuum” using guide below. 7. For “Lint Retention Lint Roller”, prepare a new, unused sheet from 3M Scotch-Brite lint roller. While on the wood board roll the lint roller across specimen for 4 strokes (one stroke is the back and forth motion) sweeping from edge to

12、 edge along length of specimen. Evaluate “Lint Retention Lint Roller” using guide below. Evaluation Refer to FLTM BI 109-01 Section 3.2.4. Evaluate the specimen in daylight (D65 per ISO/CIE 23603) in both vertical (90) and horizontal (0) positions. Use the photographic standards on pages 8 and 15 to

13、 rate the lint adhesion and retention specimens using the following scale: Rating 4: Zero to Slight linting No fibers or clumps. Covering the design of the fabric. Rating 3: Mild linting Some fiber buildup on surface, fewer than 3 clumps, and design of fabric is visible. Rating 2: Moderate linting S

14、ome fiber buildup on surface, no more than 3-5 clumps on surface, design of the fabric is partially visible.
