2、termine the relative fluidity of a thermosetting resin by measuring the extent of the flow of a heated pellet of the resin down an inclined glass plate. The resins for which this test is intended are used in Foundry practice in the shell molding process. Apparatus Required Pellet Mold A Parr or simi

If a hydraulic press with a load indicator is not available, the Parr press shown in the drawing may be calibrated so that the required weights necessary to give 200 PSI are attached to the lever when forming the pell

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the
8、 same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Adjust the oven temperature to 257 +/- 2 F. 2. Weigh out 0.500 g of the resin and transfer to the 1/2 inch pellet mold. Form the pellet at 200 PSI for 30 seconds. 3. Place the pellet on the glass plate (which has previously been heated to 257
9、 F in the oven) at the narrow end and insert the plate on the rack in the oven in a horizontal position. When tilted, the pellet should flow down the length of the plate. Several pellets may be run at the same time. 4. Immediately close the oven door and heat the plate and pellets in a horizontal po

At the end of the heating in the inclined position, immediately remove the plate and allow to cool to 23 +/- 2 C in a h

Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
