2、is used to determine the tendency of inks, dyes or other substances used on trim materials, to migrate through trim assemblies and cause discoloration or staining of vinyls, fabrics or other trim cover materials. Materials and Apparatus Required Mechanical Convection Oven conforming to ASTM E 145, T

3、ype II-A, and capable of maintaining a minimum oven space of 2 L/100 cm2 of specimen size Wet Steam Supply capable of maintaining a line pressure of 138 +/- 35 kPa. Xenon Acr Weatherometer See SAE J 1885 for calibration details, exposure method and equipment source. Stainless Steel or Brass Weights

4、2.2 kg each measuring 76 x 55 mm rectangular base dimension. Plate Glass 3.2 mm thick and 76 mm long by 51 mm wide. Vinyl, fabric or other trim cover material, foundation material or bonded assembly that is designated on the engineering drawing, pattern, or FAB chart. Conditioning and Test Condition

5、s All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 6、pyright 2001, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. Procedure Method A - Paddings, Foams and Foundation Materials 1. Cut two test samples, 150 x 150 mm, of production representative padding, foam or foundation material (at the thickness designated on engineering drawing or ESM specification, up to 13 mm ma

7、ximum, with the identification marking in the center of the test sample. 2. If more than one color or type of identification is employed, each shall be tested separately. 3. Cut a 250 x 250 mm section of the lightest released color of production representative fabric, vinyl, or other cover material.

8、 The 250 x 250 mm cover material shall be selected from an area that is devoid of any identification marking. 4. Staple the 250 x 250 mm fabric or vinyl around the 150 x 150 mm sample at only two opposite ends of the sample (with the vinyl or fabric face surface up), so that the vinyl or fabric back

9、 surface is in contact with the test samples identification ink or marking. 5. Place the stapled composite on a screen, with the vinyl or fabric cover material face up, and steam the cover materials entire face surface with wet steam for 30 seconds, holding the nozzle 50 to 80 mm above the cover mat

10、erials face surface. 6. Apply the glass plate then the 2.3 kg weight (over the plate glass) to a 75 x 50 mm area of the cover materials face surface at the center surface of the composite test sample, so that direct contact is maintained between the stapled cover material and test samples identifica

11、tion marking. 7. Place the composite, with the weight and glass plate on the composites center area, in a convection oven for 8 hours at 120 +/- 2 C. 8. Remove the weight and glass plate and expose the composite in the Xenon Arc Weatherometer for 75.2 kJ/m2. 9. Remove and repeat steps 5, 6, 7 and 8.

12、 10. Examine the face surface of the cover material for any evidence of migration of the test samples identification ink, dye, etc., into the surface of the cover material. 13、s and Bonded Assemblies 1. Cut a 150 x 150 mm test sample of fabric, leather, vinyl coated fabric, etc. from an area of production representative yardage, with the identification marking in the center and on the back surface of the test sample. For bonded assemblies, such as seat inserts, door panel

14、s, arm rests, formed headliners, carpets, crash pads, etc., a 150 x 150 x 13 mm test sample (or the maximum thickness of the production representative assembly, if less than 13 mm) shall be cut from an area that is known to have the identification marking on the cover materials back surface. If unab

15、le to determine if the bonded assemblys cover material has any identification markings, then a production representative assembly must be fabricated, with production cover material that is marked, to obtain a 150 x 150 mm test sample. 2. Expose the test sample to two cycles of steaming, oven aging a

16、nd Xenon Arc Weatherometer aging as outlined in Method A, steps 5, 6, 7 and 8 and then examine the test sample per step 10. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
