1、FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BP 118-02 2001 O924 COUPLING INTEGRITY TEST FOR AIR CONDITIONING REFRIGERANT HOSES Revised Editorial - no technical change A. Cockman Application This procedure is used to determine the coupling compatibility with the hose under varying time versus temperature stresses. A

2、pparatus Required Temperature Test Chamber Thermotron or equivalent capable of holding -29 OC to 125 OC with a capability for programming cycles. Oven Blue M, or equivalent, maintained at 25 +/- 2 OC. Balance Balance capacity of 3000 g with an accuracy of +/- 0.1 g. Canisters Approximately 1260 cm3

3、with fittings. Refrigerant Charging Stand Materials Required R-12 or R-134a Supply Refrigeration Oil - currently released (see General Information) Test Specimen All test specimens will have 7.6 cm of exposed hose material and 9.0 cm of metal tubing between the coupling bead lock to the Tube-O bead.

4、 All assemblies will be fitted with standard Tube-O fittings on both ends. 5、rolled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 OC and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure A. Charging Determine the total internal volume of the canister plus hose assembly. Calculate the refrigerant charge by

6、 multiplying the system volume (cc) by the following density constants: Test Densitv Constant (a/cc) R-12 at 125 OC and 1.7 Mpa R-134a at 125 OC and 1.7 Mpa 0.078 0.059 Charge 10 +/- 1 cm3 of currently released refrigerant oil into the canister assembly. Evacuate and add RI2 or R134a and record orig

7、inal weight. Check all fittings to insure against extraneous refrigerant leakage. This weighing and all subsequent weighings are to be made at 23 +/- 2 OC to the nearest 0.1 g. After charging, agitate the assembly to insure mixing with the oil and wetting of all internal surfaces. B. Test Exposure T

8、he assembly shall be oriented so that the liquid phase will always drain into the test coupling assembly. The test shall include eight (8) exposure intervals each followed by a weight loss leakage evaluation and in the event this has occurred before the next exposure. The eight (8) exposure interval

9、s in sequential order are as follows: 1. 96 hours at 125 OC with canister pressure at 1.7 MPa. 2. 48 hours thermal cycling composed of six cycles programmed as follows; TEMPERATURE TIME Rise from 23 OC to 125 OC Hold at 125 OC Decline from 125 OC to -29 OC Hold at -29 OC Rise from -29 OC to 23 OC 12

11、 At the end of each exposure interval, as soon as a canister assembly reaches room temperature of 23 +/- 2 “C it shall be evaluated as follows: 1. Weigh and record the loss in grams for the interval. 2. If the loss is greater than 7 g, terminate the test. 3. Flex test the coupled assembly on the can

12、ister to +/- 15“. Make ten flex cycles in approximately ten seconds in each of two perpendicular planes on a coupling assembly. If available, use a flex fixture to limit the amount of travel to +/- 15“. Immediately evaluate the leakage at each coupling as follows: a. Listen for hissing (charge loss)

13、. b. Look for oil leakage. C. Terminate the test if either coupling gives a positive response to the above evaluations. 4. Reweigh after flex testing and continue with the next exposure interval if the weight is within 4 g of original weight. If not, recharge to original weight before continuing. Ma

14、intaining the weight within 4 g of original weight insures that the canister assembly refrigerant restarting pressure is no less than the respective pressures listed in Section A. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 after second through the seventh third exposure intervals. 6. Repeat steps 1 through 3, and

At the conclusion of the test, discharge refrigerant from assemblies. Pressurize the test assemblies at the following pressures and hold fo

16、r 30 minutes to permit purging of any entrapped gases (the hose assembly may be submerged at this time): Size Pressure 8 mm 3.4 MPa 10 mm 3.4 MPa 13 mm 3.4 MPa 16 mm 2.4 MPa 19 mm 2.4 Mpa Disperse any bubbles that iemain on the surface of the hose, coupling, or tubing and then begin 5 minute leak ch

17、eck for bubbling of the hose assembly. There shall be no evidence of leakage (bubbles) through the hose or at the couplings.
