2、s procedure is used to describe the “flow -out“ behavior of bonding tape. The height of tape and amount of flow is determined after the specified time, temperature and load. Material Required Bonding Tape Samples of tape 3 inches long with the cross section specified on the affected Engineering draw
3、ing. Samples shall be uniform in cross section over the entire 3 inch length +/ - .005 inch. Glass Plate 3 x 3 x 0.25 inch flat polished plate glass shall be used. Equipment Required Test Assembly The glass plate and the bonding tape shall be combined to provide the test assembly as shown in Figure
4、1. Weight A 1.5 +/ - 0.1 lb weight (3 x 3 inch square). Oven A mechanical convec tion oven capable of maintaining a temperature of 190 +/ - 2 F. Spacer A 3 x .500 x .200 inch +/ - .002 inch steel spacer is necessary for maintaining the minimum height of the compressed test assembly. Thickness Gage A
5、 standard bench thickness gage havin g a total capacity of at least 3 inches, graduated in .001 inch divisions. The gage shall be equipped to provide a 2 oz load over a minimum contact area of 1/4 square inch. Gages of this type may be obtained from Federal Products Corp. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD

Hydraulic Press A laboratory press, Pasadena Hydraulic, Inc., Model PWOS 220, or equivalent, is required to compress the bonding tape to the proper material thickness. Stop Watch A stop watch shall be used to measure the timed int

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless other

The testing procedure shall also be performed under these environmental conditions. 1. Using the thickness tester, measure the combined heigh

Place the spacer (.200 inch) between the glass plates cent ered between the two ribbons of bonding tape in accordance with Figure 1. 3. Center the assembly on t

The maximum load on the sample shall not exceed 500 lbs force. 5. Take the sample out of the press, remove the s

Replace the weight. Calculate the rebound height of the tape, using the following method: R = Tx - T G R =
12、 Rebound height Tx = Combined glass and tape thickness a t time specified T G = Combined glass thickness as determined in Step 1. 7. Place the sample (with weight) in a mechanical convection oven maintained at 190 +/ - 2 F for a period of 24 h. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BU 014-02 Page 3 of 4 Copyr

After 1 h, remove the weight, measure and calculate the tape height as in Step 6. 10. Three separate test samples shall be used to determine conformance to the
14、specification requirements. 11. Record 1 h rebound height ( Step 6) and minimum height (Step 9). 12. Calculate the flow of the tape and record, using the following method: F = R 1 - H 1 F = Flow R 1 = 1 h rebound (Step 6) H 1 = Height after exposure (Step 9) Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipmen
