、ne the amount of water absorption by tapes. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unl
、ess otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Form a circular ring of tape approx 25 x 75 mm or equivalent to obtain an exposure area o f approximately 3900 mm2. A minimum contact area of the ends is used to hold the tape in a ring form (approximately 6 - 10 mm overlap). Note: The tape should be conditioned
、 for 24 h at 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity prior to weighing. 2. Weigh the ring to the nearest milligram and immerse it in water at 23 +/ - 2 C for 22 h. A stainless steel grid (e.g. a burner grid) is used to retain the tape under water. 3. After the immersion period, carefully remov
、e the tape and shake off excess wate r. Remove the remaining surface water with air at 70 - 100 kPa. Immediately weigh the specimen. 4. Calculate the percent water absorption as follows: Percent Water Absorption = W2 W1 x 100 W 1 Where: W1 = weight of original specimen W2 = weight of specimen after
、water absorption Note 1: Report water absorption percent as the average of three determinations. Note 2: Exercise care to minimize contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive coated surfaces of the tape during the test proce dure. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
