2、 test methods describe the procedures for determining the holding power and shear adhesion of pressure sensitive adhesive foam tapes. Apparatus Required Static Shear Stands Equipment to hold the painted panel including a timer which stops the time when the sample fails. Weight 7.0 kg Razor Cutter 12

3、.7 mm wide Tensile Testing Machine Capable of a constant rate of 12 mm/minute jaw separation. Material Required Static Shear Strip Dimensions 0.4 x 25 x 50 mm; polyester or aluminum tape may be used as reinforcement for tape to be tested under shear conditions. Painted Panel Freshly painted panel 25

4、 x 100 mm. Tissues Laboratory grade; lint free. Isopropyl Alcohol/Distilled Water Solution 50:50 by volume. 5、values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % rela tive humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Method A - Dynamic Shear Test 1. Clean a painted p

6、anel with one wash using the isopropyl/water solution and wipe dry with a tissue. 2. Cut a specimen of the tape to be tested at least 25 mm wide and 100 mm long. 3. Apply the tape to be tested in such a way that the formation of air bubbles between tape and panel is avoided without exerting apprecia

7、ble pressure on the tape to the specimen (See Figure 1). 4. Remove the liner from the tape. Apply the panel with the tape to the second panel and press down firmly to force out trapped air to ensure good bond. 5. Pressure is applied to the sample by placing a 7 kg weight on the b ond area for 3 seco

8、nds. 6. Age per Materials Engineering Specification. 7. Immediately after aging, or at a time specified by the material specification, clamp both ends in the jaws of a tensile testing machine having a jaw separation rate of 12 mm/minut e, and determine the force required to separate the panels. 8. 9、ecord the load in newtons. Method B - Static Shear Test 1. Clean three painted panels with one wash using the isopropyl/water solution and wipe dry with a tissue. 2. Clean three disposable static shear strips with n - Heptane and wipe dry with a tissue. Note: Painted panels may be substituted for st

Cut three specimens of the tape to be tested at least 25 mm wide and 10 mm long. 4. Apply the tape to be tested to one shear strip or painted panel in such a way that the formation

11、of air bubbles between tape and panel is avoided without exerting appreciable pressure on the tape to the disposable shear strip or painted panel assembly (see Figure 1). 5. Remove the liner fr om the tape. Apply the shear strip or painted panel with the tape to a second painted panel and press down

12、 firmly to force out trapped air to ensure good bond. 6. Pressure is applied to the sample by placing 7 kg weight on the bond area for 3 seconds. 7 . Condition for 24 h at 23 +/ - 2 C. 8. Age per Engineering Materials Specification. 9. Attach a weight (as specified in the materials engineering speci

13、fication) to the lower end of the shear strip. 10. Record the time to failure for 3 samples. 11. Rep ort average time to failure and temperature. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
