、sed to determine the staining effect of adhesives on trim materials after exposure to heat, ultra-violet light and in the Xenon Arc Weatherometer. Apparatus Required Fluorescent Sunlamp Cabinet A modified oven equipped with 4 Westinghouse FS 20T-12 Fluorescent Sunlamps is required. Mechanical Convec
、tion Oven Conforming to ASTM D 573/E145 Type IIa and capable of maintaining a temperature of 60 +/- 2 C. For the duration of the staining test, the oven must not contain any other type of materials. The specimens must be placed on the oven racks and arranged to ensure that sufficient air circulation
、 is maintained within the oven. Sunlamp Fixture To be completely installed in the cabinet; 20 gage steel box with screw cover; one 20 watt high power factor ballast for each two lamps; four fluorescent starter assemblies; cover-20 gage steel with Alzak aluminum reflector overlay; four pairs fluoresc

、England 5870 Hemer/Sundwig Germany Roller Steel or rubber-covered steel roller capable of applying a load of 2 kg to the test assemblies. Panels Steel body skin panels - 65 x 175 mm. Prepared as outlined in FLTM BI 103- 02, Method C, using light-colored currently-approved production enamel. The pain
、ted panels must be aged for 16 h at 45 +/- 2 C or 72 h 23 +/- 2 C before use. The painted panels must be used within 60 days of aging. Trim Material Panels Currently-approved production light-colored trim material size 65 mm x 175 mm. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein
、 are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Using the applicator, apply an adhesive film 25 mm wide with a thickness
、as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification, to the trim material panels. Refer to Figure 1. Note: The film must be applied to a longitudinal edge of the trim material in order to leave an uncoated area for comparison. 2. Apply a similar film of adhesive to the paint panel. Note
、: Where one way stick is used in production, apply adhesive to the painted panel only. 3. After an open time, as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification, place the two surfaces coated with adhesive together using light finger pressure to ensure positive contact. Allow to air dry at 23 +/- 2 C for 16 h. Note: For all methods outlined below, a separate flat control sample
、 of the trim material must be exposed to the same conditions at the same time. Method A Expose an assembly in the oven for 96 h at 93 +/- 2 C, or as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Method B Expose an assembly in the fluorescent sunlamp cabinet for 96 h, or as required
、by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. The assembly must be 30 cm from the light source. Method C Expose an assembly in the Xenon Arc Weatherometer for the specified kJ/m2 exposure as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification, with the face side to the light source
、. Evaluation After exposure, examine the specimens for discoloration, as compared with the Control Sample. Report: 1. Contact staining 2. Migration staining or as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BU 152-02 Page 4 of 4 Copyright 2000, Ford Global Technologies, Inc.
