2、rs. The time required for 50 g of the material to pass through a Castor Severs Orifice (ASTM D 1823) under a pressure of 1 O psi indicates the viscosity of the mastic deadener. Apparatus Required 1. Pressure Flowmeter - an acceptable type of pressure flow apparatus is shown in the attached diagram.

Procedure Connect flowmeter to air supply, using approximately 30 psi line pressure. Close cup air input valve and adjust air pressure regu
7、lator until flowmeter air gage reads 1 O Ibs/square inch. Place center of balance weighing pan 3.0 inches under the orifice and counterbalance a sheet of nonabsorbent paper on the pan. Set balance to weigh 50 g. Mix sample thoroughly in a one quart friction top can. Cover top tightly to prevent vola
8、tile loss and adjust sample to 77 +/- 2 OF. Fill cylindrical cup to 1/2 inch from top, tamping sharply to avoid air pocket formation. Place the flowmeter piston disc or follower plate on the sample surface and return filled cup into place on flowmeter. Open air valve to piston and extrude 50 g of sa
9、mple onto paper on balance pan. While sample is extruding, adjust air pressure regulator so that flowmeter air gage reads exactly 10 psi under load conditions. Discard this sample and replace a clean tared paper to the balance pan and reset balance to weigh 50 g net weight. Open air valve to piston
10、and extrude a 50 g sample. Start stopwatch when sample reaches tared paper and stop when balance indicator touches equilibrium point. Close piston valve and record time in seconds. The time required to extrude the second sample will be recorded as the flow rate or viscosity of the material. Addition
11、al determinations should not be made on any sample remaining in cup. If a recheck test is required, refill cleaned cup with fresh sample and repeat procedure. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for deter
