2、is used to determine the feasibility of using a material in production, when the material is to be dispensed through an automated system. Such feasibility is dependent on the tendency of the materials physical flow properties to change when subjected to constant temperature and shear, instead of the

3、 frequent adjustments made by the operator during conventional, manually controlled operations. All 3 procedures described are normally performed sequentially, but may be performed individually where sufficient information is provided by one or two. Apparatus Required Pump Air Operated Positive Disp

4、lacement Pump (42:1 Ratio) Material Drum of Specified Material Dispensing System Consisting of: (Reference Figure 1) (A) Hose (31.75 x 1.83 mm) (B) 3 Visual Test Gauges (0 - 27600 kPa, 345 kPa Div.) (C) Header Pipe (50.8 mm x 3.05 m, with 31.75 mm I.D.) (D) Limit Switch (E) Reducing Bushing (31.75 m

7、bly: (Reference Figure 1) 1. Mount (D) limit switch to pump equipment to indicate complete up to down cycle. 2. Install (B) gauge #1 to outlet of pump equipment. 3. Attach (A) hose to outlet of pump. 4. Attach (A) hose to inlet end of header. 5. Install (B) gauge #2 to outlet end of (C) header. 6. A

8、ttach (K) hose to outlet of (C) header. 7. Attach (K) hose to inlet of (N) air actuated ball valve. 8. Attach (L) pipe to outlet (N) air actuated ball valve. 9. Attach (O) tee to outlet end of (L) pipe. 10. Install (B) gauge #3 to outlet end of (O) tee. 11. Install (M) nozzle to outlet end of (O) te

9、e. 12. Install and position (P) cup catch. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless

10、 otherwise specified. Procedure #1 1. Purge entire system with 19 L of material and make dynamic pressure adjustment to 10.4 MPa at gauge #3. Note what air pressure is required to the air motor. 2. Relieve all pressure off system and allow material to stabilize approximately 1 h. 3. Set air pressure

11、 required for the 10.4 MPa dynamic material pressure. (Note: The air motor and material air actuated ball valve is not actuated until button is pushed.) 4. Set counter #1 to 6 complete cycles and counter #2 to 3 complete cycles. 5. Press start button. At this point: . Actuators to the air motor and

12、25.4 mm ball valve will switch to open. . Limit switch will count off 6 complete cycles to counter #1. . Counter #2 will start and count off 3 complete cycles. At the same time: . Timer will turn on and record 3 complete cycles. . Cup catch will be activated to catch complete 3 cycles. . After 3 com

13、plete cycles the 25.4 mm ball valve will close allowing static pressure to build in system. (Note: air motor will remain on.) 6. Record weight, time in seconds and temperature at nozzle. 14、Allow material to sit in a static condition for 1 h. 2. Switch off counters #1 and #2. 3. Press start button. At this point: . Actuator to the 25.4 mm ball valve will switch to open. . Material will dispense for 1 h. . Near the end of the 1 h run, note the time it takes for 9 complete cycles to allo

15、w sufficient time to activate the counters. . Limit switch will count off 6 complete cycles to counter #1. . Counter #2 will start and count off 3 complete cycles. At the same time: . Timer will turn on and record 3 complete cycles. . Cup catch will be actuated to catch 3 complete cycles. . After 3

16、complete cycles the 25.4 mm ball valve will close allowing static pressure to build in system. (Note: Air motor will remain open.) Procedure #3 1. Record weight, time in seconds and temperature at nozzle. 2. Allow material to sit in a static condition for 24 h. 3. Press start button. At this point:

17、. Actuator to the 25.4 mm ball valve will switch to open. . Limit switch will count off 6 complete cycles to counter #1. . Counter #2 will start and count off 3 complete cycles. At the same time: . Timer will turn on and record 3 complete cycles. . Cup catch will be actuated to catch 3 complete cycl

18、es. . After 3 complete cycles the 25.4 mm ball valve will close allowing static pressure to build in system. . Record weight, time in seconds, and temperature at nozzle. Equipment Clean Up 1. Disconnect hose (K) from (N) ball valve. 2. Remove pump assembly from drum and remove follower plate. 3. Usi

19、ng pure mineral spirits, purge out approximately 20 L of tested material. 4. Position hose back to mineral spirits container and recycle mineral spirits approximately 1 h. 5. Disassemble all equipment and inspect for any remaining material and hand clean and allow to air dry. Chemicals, materials, p

20、arts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
