、utomotive windshield sealers for compressibility or squeeze-out characteristics. Apparatus Required Mechanical Convection Oven Capable of maintain 70 +/- 2 C. Scale Graduated in mm. Template Refer to Figure 1. Weight As required to a total combined mass of 900 g with the glass plate. Glass Plate 75
、x 200 x 6 mm. Scriber Materials Required Naphtha Solvent Boiling range 60 - 140 C Steel Panels 75 x 200 x 0.8 mm with a surface of 1.4 +/- 3 micrometers C.L.A. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C
、 and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BV 110-01 Page 2 of 3 Copyright 2000, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. Procedure 1. Prepare the painted steel test panel per FLTM BI 10
、3-02, Method B. 2. Age the painted panels for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C prior to testing. 3. Clean the panel and glass plate with naphtha. 4. Scribe two parallel lines each 18 mm distance from the center line of the panel along its entire length. 5. Extrude two beads (12 mm min in diameter) of the sealer m
、aterial under test over the length of the test panel following the scribed lines. 6. Draw the template smoothly over the length of the sealer beads over 5 s, keeping the ends of the template in contact with the test panel. The beads of sealer must be of uniform size with a height of 6 +/- 0.5 mm and
、 lie in a line parallel to the edges of the test panel. 7. Cut off the sealer ends so that the beads are 150 mm long. 8. Carefully wipe excess sealer from the panel using naphtha solvent. 9. Carefully center and place the glass plate over the sealer beads without lateral movement of the glass. 10. A
、fter positioning, add sufficient mass to obtain the required total mass of 900 g. 11. Allow to stand at 23 +/- 2 C for 24 h. 12. Measure the maximum width of each sealer bead at its midpoint. 13. Place the assembly including weight, into the oven at 70 +/- 2 C for 72 h. Evaluation Remove the assembl
、y from the oven and immediately measure and report the maximum width of each sealer bead at its midpoint. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
