2、on This method is used to determine the corrosive and adhesive effects of gasket materials on metal surfaces. Apparatus Required Mechanical Convection Oven Capable of maintaining temperatures of 120 - 150 +/- 2 C. Humidity Cabinet The humidity cabinet must be maintained at 38 +/- 2 C and 95 to 100 %

3、 R.H. The moist air must be circulated in the cabinet by a fan or other suitable means. Test specimens must be suitably supported and arranged in the test cabinet so that no water can drip from one specimen onto another. Materials Required Tension Wrench Indicating applied torque graduated to includ

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Preparati

10、on of Test 1. Prepare 3 specimens of gasket material for each test. They shall be cut clearly and shall be free from burrs, loose fibers, and dirt. No foreign substances shall be used during the cutting operation for lubrication of the die or any other purpose where they may come in contact with the

Test Procedure The following metal plate combinations are to be tested: Aluminum (Plate A) and Aluminum (Plate A) Cast Iron (Plate B) and Cast Iron (Plate B) Aluminum (Plate A) and Cast Iron (Plate B) 1. Assemble the Plates A and/or B with gas

13、ket test specimen, ground surface next to the test specimen, and Plates C on the top and the bottom to form a sandwich with the test specimen carefully centered between the Plates A and/or B (see Figure 1). 2. Lubricate the threads of screw very lightly using molybdenum disulfide in powder or spray

14、form (oil is not recommended). 3. Carefully insert the screw through the washer, the Plates including the test specimen, and the washer (also lubricated) on the top. Take care to avoid contamination of either the gasket material or Plates (A and/or B) surface with the lubricant (see Figure 1). 4. Ti

Moderate adhesion to 1 plate but specimen can be separated cleanly. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BV 123-01 Page 4 of 5

Note the degree to corrosion numerically by applying the following rating system: Rating 1: No surface stain or corrosion. Rating 2: Surface stain or discoloration present but no

22、t corrosion as defined by pitting or erosion of 1 or both plates. Rating 3: Trace of corrosion. A few small spots on plates with faint out-line of parts of specimen. Rating 5: Moderate corrosion. Numerous corroded areas on plates. Rating 6: Excessive corrosion. Plates completely corroded with consid

23、erable pitting or erosion. Note: In the case of excessive adhesion, a thin knife or steel blade may be used to separate the plates. Exercise care to avoid damage to plates or specimens. Disregard adhering fibers and corrosion within 2 mm of outer diameter of the contact. Chemicals, materials, parts,
