、NERS Application This method is used to determine the solids and ash content of adhesives, sealers, and sound deadeners. Apparatus Required Porcelain Crucible With cover 40 mm in diameter and 35 mm high. Desiccator Charged with a suitable desiccant. Analytical Balance Precision +/- 0.1 mg. Mechanica
、l Convection Oven Capable of maintaining a temperature of 105 +/- 2 C. Muffle Furnace Capable of maintaining a temperature of 950 +/- 10 C. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % rela
、tive humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Fire crucible and cover in the muffle furnace at 950 +/- 10 C for 30 minutes. Cool in the desiccator, then weigh to the nearest mg. 2. Place 2 - 3 g of a representative

Place crucible (without cover) into the mechanical convection oven and maintain at 105 +/- 2 C for 3 h. 4. Cool in a desiccator, weigh
、and determine the percentage of solids as follows: Solids % = R x 100 E Where: R = Weight of residue in g E = Weight of original sample in g 5. Place covered crucible containing the weighed residue in the cool muffle furnace set at 950 C and start furnace. 6. Remove cover after temperature reaches 9
、50 C. Burn to constant weight. 7. Cover the crucible, cool in desiccator, weigh and determine the percentage of ash content as follows: Ash content % = A x 100 (based on solids weight) R Where: A = Weight of ash in g R = Weight of residue in g Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
