2、lication This procedure is used to determine the effect of migratory and volatile components in non-curing type windshield sealers on rubber weatherstrips. Method A: Swelling of Cross Section Face Method B: Swelling in Longitudinal Direction Apparatus Required Mechanical Convection Oven Capable of m
3、aintaining a constant temperature of 100 +/- 2 C. Container As shown in Figure 1. Test Fixture As shown in Figure 3. Rubber Weatherstrip As released for current production. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere
4、of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Method A: Swelling of Cross Section Face 1. Cut 2 adjacent sections of weatherstrip 30 mm in length. 2. Fill container as shown in Figure

Insert one of the 30 mm sections vertically into the sealer to an exposure depth of 10 mm. The other section is to be used for comparison.
6、4. Expose assembly for 7 d in the oven at 100 +/- 2 C. 5. Remove from oven and allow to cool to 23 +/- 2 C. Method B: Swelling in Longitudinal Direction 1. Cut 2 - 250 mm lengths of weatherstrip. 2. Fill glass channel and area in contact with the body of one weatherstrip section with the sealer unde
7、r test as shown in Figure 2 and 3. The other section is used for comparison. 3. Mount weatherstrip section in test fixture as shown in Figure 3. 4. Expose assembly for 7 d in the oven at 100 +/- 2 C. 5. Remove from oven and allow to cool to 23 +/- 2 C. Evaluation Hold exposed specimens for 2 h at 23
8、 +/- 2 C after taking from oven and then compare with the original weatherstrip as follows: Method A: Check the exposed cross-section face for swelling and any other visually realized difference. Method B: Check the exposed section for any visually realized increase in overall length, increase in li
9、p length and waviness of the lips. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
