2、ion This method is used to determine the resistance to low temperatures of heat-curing sealers and heavy mastic adhesives. Method A: For use on oiled surfaces. Method B: For use on primed surfaces. Apparatus Required Laboratory Forced Air Circulation Oven Capable of maintaining temperatures up to 25
3、0 +/- 2 C. Cold Box Capable of maintaining a constant temperature of - 40 +/- 2 C. Mandrel 50 mm in diameter (refer to Figures 2 and 3 - painted or plated steel). Template Refer to Figure 1 (may be made using steel, aluminum, or suitable plastic). Materials Required Test Panels Steel body Skin Panel
4、s. Dimensions 60 mm x 300 mm; surface finish 0.9 - 1.8 micrometre CLA. Preparation: Method A in accordance with FLTM BZ 150-11, normal grade. Method B in accordance with FLTM BI 120-01. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlle
5、d atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 6、iner of adhesive or sealant shall be conditioned for 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C prior to application. 2. Apply to 6 test panels, prepared in accordance with FLTM BZ 150-11, a bead of the material under test 200 mm in length, using the templates as shown in Figure 1. 3. Condition the specimens at 23
7、+/- 2 C for an open-time of: Either a) 4 h for solvent-release materials or b) 10 minutes for solvent-free materials 4. Cure 3 specimens in accordance with the minimum curing cycle and the other 3 specimens in accordance with the maximum curing cycle outlined in FLTM BV 150-05, Table 1. 5. Remove th
8、e specimens from the oven, place them with the mandrel in the cold box and condition for 4 h at - 40 +/- 2 C. 6. While still in the cold box, test and examine as described under Evaluation. Method B 1. The closed container of adhesive or sealant shall be conditioned for 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C pr
9、ior to application. 2. Apply to 6 test panels, prepared in accordance with FLTM BI 120-01, a bead of material under test 200 mm in length, using the template as shown in Figure 1. 3. Condition the specimens at 23 +/- 2 C for an open-time of 10 minutes. 4. Cure 3 specimens in accordance with the mini
10、mum curing cycle and the other 3 specimens in accordance with the maximum curing cycle outlined in FLTM BV 150-05, Table 2. 5. Remove the specimens from the oven, place them with the mandrel in the cold box and expose for 4 h at - 40 +/- 2 C. 6. While still in the cold box, test and examine as descr

Evaluation Bend each of the specimens through an angle of 90 in 2 s around the mandrel using a bending fixture as shown in Figures 2 and 3. Examine and determine loss of adhesion,
12、cracking, and chipping as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
