2、ethod is used to determine the ability of heat-curing sealers to be wetted by production primers and to determine the staining effect of the sealer on the paint film. Apparatus Required Mechanical Convection Oven Capable of maintaining a temperature of 165 +/- 2 C or as specified by the applicable E

3、ngineering Material Specification. Template Refer to Figure 1 (may be made using steel, aluminum, or a suitable plastic). Materials Required Test Panels CRLC steel body skin panels; 60 x 300 mm. Prepared in accordance to FLTM BI 120-01. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated here

4、in are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure A. For Sealers Coated with Production Primer and Enamel 1. Apply a bead of

Spray the specimens wet on wet with 2 coats of current production primer, each coat consisting of 2 pass

6、es with 1 minute flash-off time between coats. Allow the specimens to stand for a flash-off time of 20 minutes at 23 +/- 2 C. 3. Place the primed specimens in the oven and maintain at a sealer temperature of 165 +/- 2 C for 10 minutes unless otherwise specified. The time required to attain this seal

7、er temperature shall not exceed 10 minutes for a total oven dwell time of 20 minutes. 4. Remove the specimens from the oven and condition for 1 h at 23 +/-2 C. 5. Coat the specimens by spraying with production enamel, 3 with a light color and 3 with a dark color or as specified by the applicable Eng

8、ineering Material Specification. 6. Allow specimens to stand for a flash-off time of 20 minutes and then cure in the oven at a sealer temperature of 135 +/- 2 C for 10 minutes unless otherwise specified. The time required to attain this temperature shall not exceed 9 minutes for a total oven dwell t

9、ime of 19 minutes. 7. Condition the specimens for 4 h at 23 +/- 2 C. Evaluation Examine specimens for proper paint coverage of the sealer and for evidence of discoloration and staining or other adverse interaction of the paint film, as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. 10、. For Sealers Coated Only with Production Enamel 1. Apply a bead of the sealer 200 mm in length to 6 prepared test panels using the template as shown in Figure 1. 2. Coat the specimens by spraying with production enamel, 3 with a light color and 3 with a dark color or as specified by the applicable

11、Engineering Material Specification. 3. Allow the specimens to stand for a flash-off time of 10 minutes and then cure in the oven at a sealer temperature of 135 +/- 2 C for 10 minutes unless otherwise specified. The time required to attain this temperature shall not exceed 9 minutes for a total oven

12、dwell time of 19 minutes. 4. Condition the specimens for 4 h at 23 +/- 2 C. Evaluation Examine specimens for proper paint coverage of the sealer and for evidence of discoloration and staining of the paint film, as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification.
