2、ethod is used to determine the incidence of corrosion caused by heat-curing sealers and heavy mastic adhesives. Method A: For use on oiled surfaces. Method B: For use on primed surfaces. Apparatus Required Laboratory Forced Air Circulation Oven Capable of maintaining temperatures up to 250 +/- 2 C.
3、Humidity Cabinet The humidity cabinet must be maintained at 38 +/- 2 C and a relative humidity of 95 - 100 %. The moist air must be circulated in the cabinet by a fan or other suitable means. Specimens must be suitably supported and arranged in the cabinet so that no water can drip from one specimen
4、 onto another. Template Refer to Figure 1. Materials Required Test Panels Steel body Skin Panels surface finish 0.9 - 1.8 micrometre CLA. Dimensions 100 x 300 by 0.8 - 0.9 mm. Preparation: Method A in accordance with FLTM BZ 150-11, Normal Grade. Method B in accordance with FLTM BI 120-01. (Accordin

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % re
6、lative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Method A 1. The closed container of sealant or adhesive shall be conditioned for 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C prior to application. 2. Apply to 6 test panels, prepared in
7、accordance with FLTM BZ 150-11, a bead of the material under test 200 mm in length, using the template as shown in Figure 1. 3. Condition the specimens at 23 +/- 2 C for an open-time of: either a) 4 h for solvent-release materials or b) 10 minutes for solvent-free materials 4. Cure 3 specimens in ac
8、cordance with the minimum curing cycle and the other 3 specimens in accordance with the maximum curing cycle outlined in FLTM BV 150-05, Table 1. 5. Remove the specimens from the oven, and condition for 2 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 6. Condition the specimens for 240 h in the humidity cabinet at 38 +/- 2 C and
9、 95 - 100 % relative humidity. 7. Remove specimens from the humidity cabinet and examine as described under Evaluation. Method B 1. The closed container of sealant or adhesive shall be conditioned for 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C prior to application. 2. Apply to 6 test panels, prepared in accordance
10、with FLTM BI 120-01, a bead of the material under test 200 mm in length, using the template as shown in Figure 1. 3. Condition the specimens at 23 +/- 2 C for an open-time of 10 minutes. 11、ens in accordance with the minimum curing cycle and the other 3 specimens in accordance with the maximum curing cycle outlined in FLTM BV 150-05, Table 2. 5. Remove the specimens from the oven and condition for 2 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 6. Condition the specimens for 480 h in the humidity cabinet at 38 +/-
12、 2 C and 95 - 100 % relative humidity. 7. Remove the specimens from the humidity cabinet and examine as described under Evaluation. Evaluation Separate the test material from the test panel as shown in Figure 1. Examine the newly exposed area of the test panels including sealer edges and report the
13、incidence of corrosion or rust as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Note: Any loss of paint adhesion or softening of the paint must be reported. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
