2、rmine the flammability of sealers by welding. Method A - Applied as a spot weld sealer material. Method B - Applied as a sealer material over spot weld seams. Apparatus Required Spot Welding Equipment Stationary, 80 KVA with ignition control arrangement or equivalent. Adjust the controls of the spot
3、 welding equipment to give the following conditions: Secondary current 9,000 amps Squeeze time 12 cycles Weld time 8 cycles Hold time 20 cycles minimum Cold time 12 cycles Welding rate 20 welds per minute Electrode pressure 2.3 kN Diameter of weld nugget 6 mm Materials Required Test Panel Steel body
4、 skin panels free from burrs or ragged edges, prepared in accordance with FLTM BZ 150-11 (Normal Grade). Dimensions: 700 x 50 x 0.85 +/- 0.03 mm Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 %
5、 relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 6、ainer of sealant shall be conditioned for 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C prior to application. 2. Apply a bead of the sealer to each of three test panels. The bead shall be 6 mm in diameter and 10 mm from the edge of the panel (see Figure 1, Section AA). 3. Immediately after application of the sealer, p
7、lace a further test panel over each of the three test panels positioned as in Figure 1, and apply a firm even pressure until a coated area of 20 mm is achieved. Any spew out of sealer should be wiped off. 4. After 5 minutes of application of the sealer, weld the assemblies in accordance with the fol
8、lowing procedure. Position all the spot welds along the length of the assembly in the center of the coated area. Spot weld No. 1 shall be positioned 65 mm from the end of the assembly. No. 2 shall be 26 mm from No. 1 and each subsequent spot weld up to No. 21 shall be 26 mm from the previous one of
9、the series (see Figure 1). Method B - Applied as a sealer material over spot weld seams. 1. The closed container of sealant shall be conditioned for 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C prior to application. 2. Prepare three test assemblies. Each assembly shall consist of 2 panels positioned as in Figure 2. 3
10、. Each pair of panels shall be held in close contact with one another and secured by three holding spot welds (see Figure 2). 4. Apply the sealer to give a bead with a radius of 4 mm and overlapping the edge of the upper panel (see Figure 2, Section AA). 5. After 5 minutes of application of the seal
11、er, weld the assemblies in accordance with the procedure used in Method A, but place spot welds on the center line of the test panel assembly (see Figure 2). Evaluation The 3 test assemblies shall be evaluated according to the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, part
12、s, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
