、 used to check the closed cell structure of foam by determination of the water permeability. Apparatus Required 1. Glass or metal tube, inner diameter 19 mm, outer dia approx 20 mm, length approx 160 mm. Note: If a glass tube is used, great care must be taken during handling due to the thin wall. 2.
、 Beaker 400 mL. 3. Hypalon paint or equivalent. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions u
、nless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Cut from the material under test a specimen with the following dimensions: approx 100 x 100 x 10 mm. 2. Drill the tube 5 mm into the 10 mm section of the foam slab. For accuracy when a metal tube is used the end can be sharpened and the tube supported on a gra
、duated clamp stand. Make a water proof seal around the outer edge of the tube with Hypalon paint or equivalent. 3. With the tube in the upper position, place the assembly on the beaker. 4. Fill the tube with distilled water to a height of 140 mm and visually inspect to ensure no leakage around the s
、ealed edge. 5. After 24 hours assess water tightness of the foam by examination for water droplets in the beaker. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
