Minimum distances as shown in Figure 1 are required from a drawn hole to bends, edges, and other drawn holes in order to avoid distortion of holes. Wherever possibl
18、e, the minimum distance between the edge of a drawn hole and the inside edge of the closest bend should be three (3) times the thickness of the metal plus the inside radius of the bend but not less than 1/32 plus the inside radius of the bend. Where no bends exist, minimum distance between a drawn h
19、ole and edge of metal should be at least three (3) times the thickness of the metal, but not less than 1/16 inch. Minimum distance between drawn holes should be not less than six (6) times the thickness of the metal. T 3T MIN. . a Figure 1 FLANGE DIMENSIONS FOR EXTRUDED HOLES. Figures 2 and 3 apply
20、to extruded holes in low carbon sheet stock .025 to .312 thick; 50-70 Rockwell B. These dimensions are for flanged holes produced by a shoulder-type punch. First, a small hole is produced by the flat end of the punch and then this hole is enlarged to the desired size by the body of the punch. The me

It is advisable to limit the use of extruded holes to material thicker than 1/5 the nominal diameter of the screw so there will be enough strength in the extruded hole to develop a reasonable
22、proportion of the strength of the screw. In other words. avoid using screws larger than 5 times the material thickness. Screws in extruded holes in thin material develop twice as much fastening strength as could be developed with the unextruded plate. At the other extreme the full strength of the th
