PAGE G-353.0 I FORD MOTOR COMPANY a PRODUCT ENGINEERING STANDARD PARTS GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS For RIVETS Material: Refer to Material Specification Heads: The bearing surface of oval, flat and truss head rivets shall be at ri
、ght angles to the axis of rivet shank within 2 degrees. Heads of all tubular rivets shall not be eccentric with the shank beyond a tolerance of 3 per cent of the maximum head diameter. Because the heads are not machined or trimmed, the circumference may be slightly irregular and the edges rounded or
、 flat. Limits: Allowable variation on dimensions controlling finished surfaces is plus or minus . 010 inches unless otherwise specified. SOLID RIVETS Underhead Fillets: Small Solid Rivets, other than countersunk type, shall be furnished with a definite fillet under the head but radius of fillet shal
、l not exceed 10% of maximum shank diameter or .030 in. , whichever is smaller. For large solid rivets, other than counter- sunk type, fillets under the head are allowable as follows: Sizes 1/2 inch diameter and larger, .062 radius max. Points: Unless otherwise specified, rivets shall have plain shea
、red ends. Ends shall be at right angles, within 2 deg. , to the axis of the rivet and the end shall be reasonably flat, sufficient for the purpose of driving that end satisfactorily. Lengths: Tolerance on solid rivet lengths (diameters less than 1/29 shall be plus or minus .015“ unless otherwise spe
