24、l Specification (see Parts page). Heads: The bearing surface of oval, flat and truss head rivets shall be at right angles to the axis of rivet shank within 2 degrees. Heads of all tubular rivets shall not be eccentric with the shank beyond a toler ance of 3 per cent of the maximum head dia- meter. B
25、ecause the heads are not machined or trimmed, the circumference may be slightly irregular and the edges rounded or flat. Limits: Allowable variation on dimensions controlling finished surfaces is plus or minus 0.25 mm unless otherwise specified. SOLID RIVETS Underhead Fillets: Small Solid Rivets, ot
26、her than countersunk type, shall be furnished with a definite fillet under the head but radius of fillet shall not exceed 10% of maximum shank diameter or 0.8 111111, whichever is smaller. For large solid rivets, other than counter- sunk type, fillets under the head are allowable as follows: Sizes 1
27、2 mm diameter and larger, 1.6 mm radius max. Points: Unless otherwise specified, rivets shall have plain sheared ends. Ends shall be at at right angles, within 2 deg. , to the axis of the rivet and the end shall be reasonably flat, sufficient for the purpose of driving that end satisfactorily. Lengt
28、hs: Tolerance on solid rivet lengths (diameters less than 12 mm) shall be plus or minus 0.4 mm unless otherwise specified. Hole Depth: Hole depth shall be measured parallel to the axis of the rivet from the extrem
34、e end of the rivet to the intersection of the diameter of the hole with the contour at the bottom of the hole. The hole depth to the extreme point on the bottom contour of the hole shall not be greater than the shank length of the rivet. The tolerance on hole depth shall be the same as the tolerance
35、 on length of the rivet. Defects: The finished rivet and irregularities shall not be such that usability of the rivet is impaired. Rivets shall be free from surface seams, splits and all other defects that might affect their serviceability. - Assembly Considerations: The approximate length for tubul
36、ar rivets should be determined byadding the total compressed thickness of the work to be assembled to the approximate clinch allowance from the following table. If the length so determined does not conform to the length increments specified, the next longer length should be used. Recommended hole si
