SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a combination of expanded elastomeric material with natural skin for the tubular part and soft rubber for the clip supporting part with a metal insert. 2. APPLICATION This sp
3、ecification was released originally for material used as a weatherstrip for decklids and/or as specified on Engineering Drawing. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material supp
4、liers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 REQUIREMENTS OF FINISHED PART The material shall be conditioned for a minimum of 24 hours at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity prior to test and tested under the same c
5、onditions. 3.2.1 Color and Dimensions The color and dimensions of the weatherstrip shall be as specified on Engineering Drawing. 3.2.2 Construction Tubular Part The tubular part shall be made of an expanded elastomeric material with natural skin or as specified on Engineering Drawing. Supporting Par
6、t The supporting part shall be made of soft rubber or as specified on Engineering Drawing. Metal Insert Shall be as specified on Engineering Drawing. 7、ucture or Tubular Part The material shall have a uniform cell structure and shall be free from voids, solid spots or other internal defects. 3.2.4 Surface Requirement of the Sealing Tube The visible surface of the sealing tube shall be free from grooves, unevenness, blisters or open pores. 3.2.5 Bon
8、d between Supporting and Tubular Part 3.2.5.1 Original, min 100 N/50 mm width 3.2.5.2 After Ageing, min 100 N/50 mm width (24 hours at 70 +/- 1 C in a mechanical convection oven) 3.2.5.3 After Water Immersion, min 90 N/50 mm width (24 hours at 23 +/- 2 C in distilled water) Cut test specimen 50 mm i
9、n length from the finished part (minimum 3 for each test). After each conditioning period place the specimen horizontally in the clamps of a tensile machine and test at a speed of 500 mm minute. 3.2.6 Cold Resistance No breaks, no cracks Place a section of the part approx. 200 mm in length without m
10、etal insert in a cold chamber maintained at -40 +/- 1 C for 4 hours. Bend the specimen within the cold-box sharply 180 upon itself. Examination shall be done on bent specimen after reconditioning. 3.2.7 Dimensional Stability, Shrinkage, max 2.5% Or as specified on the Engineering Drawing. Place a se
11、ction of the finished part in a mechanical convection oven maintained at 120 + 2 C for 30 minutes. Measure the dimensional changes after cooling down to room temperature. 3.2.8 Heat Resistance, shrinkage, max 2% Or as specified on the Engineering Drawing. Furthermore the part shall not show distorti
12、ons, cracks or other surface failures. Place a section of the part in a mechanical convection oven maintained at 70 +/- 1 C for 7 days. Measure and examine after cooling down to room temperature. Slight contact staining is permitted, if not otherwise specified on Engineering Drawings. 3.2.10 Paint Staining by Water Extractable Ingredien
14、ts None Expanded elastomeric material and soft rubber are to be tested separately. 3.2.11 Compression Set under Constant Deflation, max 40% 30 Minutes at 100 +/- 2 C in a Mechanical Convection Oven 24 Hours at 70 +/- 1 C in a Mechanical Convection Oven 4 Hours at -40 +/- 1 C Or as specified on the E
15、ngineering Drawings. a) Cut test specimen 50 mm in length from the finished part (minimum 3 for each test) and mount in a device as shown in sketch, measure the height and identify as (H1). b) When not otherwise specified on Engineering Drawing, compress the sample between the two plates by 6 mm, me
16、asure the compressed height and identify as (H1). c) Remove the load after the test and measure the height 30 minutes after storage at room temperature and identify as (H2). d) Calculate compression set as follows: Compression set in % = (H0 H2)/(H0 H1) x 100 H0 = Initial height of test specimen H1
17、= Height of test specimen at constant deflection H2 = Height of test specimen 30 minutes after load removal 3.2.12 Ozone Resistance Rating 0 Expanded Elastomeric Material (Tubular Part) or as specified on Engineering Drawing FLTM BP 101-01, except the weatherstrip with supporting part shall be wrapp
18、ed around a mandrel according to assembly condition. Elongation of the sealing tube 15 - 20%. 19、4 of 4 3.2.13 Salt Spray Resistance No Corrosion (ASTM B 117) Time of exposure 72 hours or as specified on Engineering Drawing. This test is required for parts with not completely coated metal inserts only. 3.3 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF FINISHED PART Specific requirements of the finished part, if req
20、uired, shall be as specified on Engineering Drawing. 3.4 REQUIREMENTS OF BASE MATERIAL 3.4.1 Expanded Elastomeric Material Material type according to SAE J18 as specified or Engineering Drawings. 3.4.2 Soft Rubber Material type according to SAE J200 as specified on Engineering Drawings. 3.4.3 Metal Insert As specified on Engineering Drawings. 3.5 FLAMMABILITY No requirements
