SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a single or multiple plug made of a PVC or PVC copolymer moulding compound. 2. APPLICATION This material is used for single and multiple plugs for the 6 and 12 volts wiring
3、systems in motor vehicles. 3. Examination shall be done after conditioning the material to room temperature. 3.5.6 Oil Resistance The material shall not be visibly attacked or show evidence of failure. Test Method: Immerse sample in engine oil according to SS-M2C9001-AA at room temperature for 48
9、 hours. 3.5.7 Gasoline Resistance The material shall not be visibly attacked or show evidence of failure. Test Method: Immerse sample in ASTM Fuel B at room temperature for 5 minutes. Test Method: Cut from material under test pieces of about the size of rice particles and condition approx. 2
11、 g in a humidity cabinet maintained at 23 +/- 2 C and 90 +/- 2 % relative humidity for 48 hours. Place together with a blank brass strip (BS 265, 1963, Type CZ 108) 150 mm in length in a test tube of 15 mm diameter and close with a glass stopper. Expose in vertical position in a mechanical convectio
12、n oven maintained at 80 +/- 2 C for 144 hours. Carry out a blank test with a brass strip only at the same time. Definition of Terms for the Purpose of this Test: Tarnishing: Glazed coloration, similar to the one occurring with steel while tempering, which does not cover the base metal and which do n
13、ot give any appreciable quantity of corrosion products when scraped off. Green Coloration: A definite green coloration on non-ferrous metals which in many cases could be scraped off in sufficient quantity as a green product due to corrosion. Dezincing: Characteristic corrosion occurring with brass a
14、s an external bright red coloration in which the brass is impoverished in zinc through loss of same and can be seen in polished sections (in a micrograph). 3.6 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF FINISHED PART Specific requirements for the finished part, if required, shall be as specified on Engineering Drawin

16、of 5 Note to Flammability: The flammability shall be determined on 100 x 355 mm specimen with a thickness of 1.0 - 1.2 mm and smooth surfaces. In order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302, the materials, portions of components, and composites shall not burn or transmit a fla
17、me across their surface, at a rate of more than 100 mm/minute. To demonstrate compliance, the sample size and method of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM EU BN 24-2. 3.8 PERFORMANCE-ENVIRONMENTAL AGEING REQUIREMENT All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specific
18、ation that have not been treated, modified or reformulated, and exceed a maximum burn rate of 75 mm per m as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM EU-BN 24-2, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per SK-M99P9500-A, Table 1 according to the ac
19、celerated environmental ageing requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of
20、FLTM EU-BN 24-2, regardless of maximum burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties per SK-M99P9500-A, Table 1 applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. 3.9 SUPPL
21、IERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally app
22、roved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials E
23、ngineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P

APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain a
25、n expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test
26、facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
