SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an air drying or forced drying two pact paint system suitable for service and in plant repair. 2. APPLICATION This material is to be used in service and in plant as a f
3、inal coat on exterior automotive surfaces. The material shall be satisfactory for use over repair primers, sealers and enamels. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production M
4、aterials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 COMPOSITION 3.1.1 Vehicle Synthetic resin, addition of hardener SK-M99J9608-A necessary. Supplier has to notify if formulation contains nitrocellulose. 3.1.2 Toxicity Contents of toxic components, e.g. benzene, chlorinated hydrocarbons, lead compounds etc., shall confo
5、rm to the safety regulations currently prevailing in the workshop where the material shall be used. The use of cadmium is prohibited. 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Solids (FLTM BI 102-01) According to initial sample report as approved +/- 2%. 3.2.2 Viscosity as Received (FLTM BI 111-01) According to
6、 initial sample report as approved +/- 5 s referring to FC 4/25 C. 7、meters dry film thickness. 3.2.4 Density (ASTM D 1475) According to initial sample report as approved +/- 0.05. 3.2.5 Flash Point The flash point shall conform to the safety regulations applicable to the workshop or plant where the material shall be used. 3.2.6 Shelf Stability (Enamel less hardener)
8、 During a storage of 6 months at room temperature, the material as received shall not gel or liver upon standing and must be free from settling which cannot be dispersed by normal agitation. The viscosity of the material shall not increase in excess of 10 seconds when tested according to FLTM BI 102
9、-03. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS (FLTM BI 103-02, Method Bb) Substrate: Body steel according to DIN Standard 1623 Type RRSt 14-05 or according to CRI (E) BS 1449 Part 1 B, 1962. Surface finish of 45-65 CLA (microinches). Metal Pretreatment According to S-M3P1-B Test panels prepared according to F
10、LTM BI 103-02, Bb have to be wet sanded with paper 400. Application of SK-M1J9559-A to a dry film thickness of 40 - 45 micrometers. Spray Viscosity and Thinner As specified by the vendor Flash Off Time 15 minutes at room temperature Mixing ratio with hardener SK-M99J9608-A, spray viscosity and thinn
11、er as specified by the vendor. 3.4 AGEING Test panels shall be aged 7 days at room temperature prior to testing. 12、FLTM BI 109-01) color standard 3.5.2 Gloss (FLTM BI 110-01, 60 glossmeter) Equivalent to same color in the appropriate currently released production system in Ford Motor Company. 3.5.3 General Appearance The enamel shall dry to a presentable, serviceable film showing no craters, pinholes, seediness,
13、 abnormal roughness. It shall have a reasonable tolerance for ordinary cleaning, and exhibit excellent polishing characteristics. 3.6 FILM PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Drying Dust free after approximately 30 minutes at room temperature. Dry to touch after maximum 6 hours at room temperature. Shall be hard in 30
14、 minutes when force dried by infrared lamp or 80 C bake. 3.6.2 Dry Film Thickness, min 40 micrometers (FLTM BI 117-01) 3.6.3 Adhesion No chipping (FLTM BI 106-01, Method B) 3.6.4 Hardness (FLTM BI 112-02) Tukon, min 4.0 KHN 3.6.5 Polishability Hardness and polishing characteristics shall be such tha
15、t air borne dirt dried in the film, dry spray areas, or other surface defects can be removed by sanding and polishing. After sanding with 600 grit paper lubricated with mineral spirit, and then wheel polished with a released grit compound, there shall be no noticeable change in sheen between the pol
16、ished and unpolished areas. 18、Spray 240 h (FLTM BI 103-01) No blistering and rusting on surface and 4 mm maximum rust creepage and/or loss of adhesion from a line scribed to bare metal. 3.7.6 Weather Resistance Test panels shall be exposed at 5 deg facing south in the Miami, Florida area for 12 months. After weathering panels sh
19、all be washed with tap water and soap solutions S-M1B4 prior to estimation. The panels shall be completely free from evidences of cracking, checking, rusting, blistering and peeling. A minimum of chalking and slight color change is permitted. Panels shall have a gloss of minimum 60 units using 60 glossmeter (FLTM BI 110-01). For color matching and for measurement of gloss the panel shall be slightly polished with a current polish.
