2、t stone peckresistant material based on PU modified synthetic resins.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as a stonepeck protective on engine hoods. The material is applied (pneumatic orairless) on baked electrocoat wet in wet with spray primer.3. REQUIREMENTS3.

3、1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the fin

4、al product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconstitute the

5、 reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 PIGMENTSOnly inert pigments and fillers to provide the desired colors shallbe use

8、ived shall not gel or liver upon standing and must be free fromsettling, which cannot be dispersed by normal agitation. Theviscosity shall not increase in excess of 20 seconds when testedaccording to FLTM EU-BI 2-3.3.9 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.9.1 Electrocoated Panels(FLTM EU-BI 20-1 C, phosphate

9、d panels)3.9.2 SK-M99J9587-C (Coated Panels)Apply stone peck material to electrocoated panel at a dryfilm thickness of 35 +/- 10 micrometre using suitable spraymethod. After a flash off time of 1 minute, spray a fullhiding coat (approx. 30 micrometre) of approved productionspray primer. After 3 minu

10、tes flash off bake according tomaterial specification. The application of topcoat shall beaccording to FLTM EU-BI 3-2, Method Bb. Apply SK-M98J9552-Amaterial in black or dark color for tests according to para3.12.2, for tests according to para 3.12.4 apply S-M32J110-A/B/C, SK-M32J9553-A basecoat/ cl

11、earcoat silver metallic. Forall other tests, use SK-M98J9552-A in white color. For testsaccording to para 3.12.3, additional test panels shall bebaked at 190 C metal temperature for 5 minutes.Note: All test panels shall be conditioned for 16 hours at45 C or 72 hours at room temperature prior to test

13、 No chipping(FLTM BI 106-01, Method B)Note: The adhesion shall be tested on panels baked at normalprimer temperature (5 minutes at 165 C metal temperature) aswell as at elevated primer bake temperature (5 minutes at190 C metal temperature).3.12 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.12.1 Salt Fog Resistance 240 h(F

14、LTM BI 103-01)No blistering and rusting on panel surface and no more than4 mm rust creepage and/or loss of adhesion from a linescribed to bare metal. Disregard any paint defects within5 mm from panel edges.3.12.2 Water Resistance 240 h(FLTM EU-BI 4-1)No blistering, flaking, strong permanent softenin

15、g or loss oftopcoat gloss. 24 hours after completion of water immersion,perform adhesion test according to para 3.11.2.No chipping permitted.3.12.3 Stone Chip ResistanceFLTM EU-BI 57-2 Rating 0FLTM EU-BI 57-4, max Rating 23.12.4 Florida ExposurePanels, diagonally scribed to bare metal, shall be expo

16、sedfor 1 year in the Miami, Florida area at 5 deg facing south.There shall be no evidence of blistering, peeling nor morethan 4 mm rust creepage from the scribed lines or any othersurface defects which can be directly related to the stonepeck material.After exposure, immerse panels for 24 hours in w

17、ater as perFLTM EU-BI 4-1. No blistering or visible deteriorationpermitted.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION SK-M99J9587-CWP 3948-b Page 4 of 524 hours after removal from water bath, test for adhesion inaccordance with FLTM BI 106-01, Method C, using 3M tape No.898, 25 mm wide. Apply tape using fir

18、m pressure over sandedand unsanded area of the dried panel, and remove it with anupward motion at medium speed. No loss of adhesion ofbasecoat or clear topcoat permitted.3.12.5 Temperature Cycling TestNo cracking or other surface defects which can be directlyrelated to the stone peck material. The a

19、dhesion must meetthe requirements of para 3.11.2.Test Method: Test panels prepared according to 3.9 shall besubjected 3 times to the following cycle:3 h at 80 +/- 2 C1 h at room temperature3 h at - 40 +/- 1 C1 h at room temperature16 h at 38 +/- 2 C and 98 +/- 2 % relative humidityAfter the last cyc

20、le, leave test panels at room temperaturefor 3 to 4 hours prior to evaluation.3.12.6 Chipping Resistance Rating 0(FLTM EU-BI 7-1)3.13 PAINT REPAIRTest panels prepared according to para 3.9 but with additional repaircoat of the same color (standard bake) must fulfill the requirementsof para 3.12.3.3.

21、14 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of the materialoriginally a

22、pproved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Eng

23、ineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest

25、from theaffected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstratingfull c

26、ompliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, andtest specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amaterial will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapproval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
