SCOPE This specification covers a pearlitic malleable cast iron with a structure of temper carbon aggregates in a matrix of spheroidised pearlite. 2. APPLICATION This material is primarily used for wheel hub

3、s in light truck applications. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION, % (Typical analysis range) Total Carbon 2.30

4、 - 2.60 Silicon 1.30 - 1.55 Manganese 0.45 - 0.65 Chromium 0.060 max Sulphur 0.22 max Phosphorus 0.08 max Elements not quoted in the above Table shall not be intentionally added to the cast iron without prior agreement with the appropriate Engineering office. The chemical composition is secondary to

5、 achieving the mechanical properties in 3.3. 3.3 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES In cases of dispute regarding mechanical properties, the properties obtained on the castings shall be the basis of acceptance. Test bars machined from castings shall give test results not less than 80 % of the minimum values quot

Test bars - provisions, heat treatment and sampling in accordance

7、 with BS 3333 1972, DIN 50 149, ISO R 944 1969. Diameter of test bar 15 mm “as cast“ or not less than 12 mm machined. Test specimens cut from castings shall be machined to a gauge diameter of 6.4 - 6.43 mm. 3.3.2 Brinell Hardness 163 - 207 The Brinell Hardness shall be carried out on the casting whe

8、re shown on the Engineering drawing with 0.5 mm minimum surface removed. All machined surfaces of a casting shall have a hardness within the specified range. Brinell Hardness tests in accordance with BS 240 Pt. 1 1962, DIN 50 351, ISO R 184 1969. 3.3.3 Impact Properties The Izod type impact properti

9、es shall be determined using a notched test piece machined from a separately cast test bar or cut from a casting and tested in accordance with BS 131 Pt.1. 1961. The minimum energy value shall not be less than 6 Joules when tested at 20 +/- 2 C. 3.4 MICROSTRUCTURE The casting shall have a uniform mi

10、crostructure beneath the immediate surface. The depth of surface decarburisation shall not exceed 0.75 mm. The general microstructure shall consist of a uniform non-aligned distribution of temper carbon aggregates in a matrix of spheroidised pearlite. No primary graphite, or primary carbide in a for

11、m or amount detrimental to the physical properties or machinability of the casting, shall be present. 3.5 SOUNDNESS The surface of the casting shall be reasonably smooth and shall be free from scale, sand, cracks or visible surface defects. Internal defects such as shrinkage and porosity are not per

12、missible. No repairing, plugging or welding of any kind shall be permitted. 3.6 CERTIFICATION The foundry keeps records and copies of test results which show that the material has been sampled, tested and inspected in accordance with the provisions of this specification. 3.7 IDENTIFICATION An identification mark shall be cast on all castings that will identify batches or heats.
