Purpose and Scope This standard specifies the requirements for packaging a

2、nd handling of machinery and equipment shipped into any Ford Motor Company facility that may be subject to lifting or transportation. This standard supplements the requirements of the Global Manufacturing Standard, wKA-1, Weight Marking of Manufacturing Equipment. These two (2) standards shall be us

3、ed together to facilitate safe handling of equipment. 1.1 Applicability/Scope This standard applies to all machinery and equipment where individual pieces, or groups of component pieces, may be lifted or transported either in whole or as a sub-assembly, and any equipment or machinery which may be su

4、bject to lifting or transportation, having an individual mass exceeding 100Kg (220 lb). All new or rebuilt machinery and equipment shall comply with the requirements of this standard. This standard shall apply at all Ford Motor Company locations. 1.2 Exceptions None 1.3 Mandatory and Preferred Items

5、 Mandatory requirements for this standard are characterized by the use of the word “shall“. There are no deviations for these requirements. Preferred items are characterized by the use of the word “should“. 1.4 Objectives The objectives of this manufacturing standard are as follows: Specify packagin

6、g performance criteria which will prevent non-containerized equipment from toppling or falling over when resting unsecured on a surface or when being handled. Specify packaging requirements for equipment to be transported or moved in order to facilitate safe and efficient handling and rigging. Speci

7、fy packaging requirements that will promote safe and efficient handling of equipment and machinery. 2. Definitions Manufacturing machinery Any piece of equipment used to machine, handle, or assemble components or other pieces of materials that are part of the auto

11、motive manufacturing and assembly process. Lift points The portion of a machine or piece of equipment whose primary purpose is to facilitate handling of the equipment. Examples of lift points include; fork pockets or eye bolts designed and rated for lifting of the equipment. 4. Appendices None 5. Ge

12、neral Requirements All machines, equipment and component pieces of equipment systems supplied to any Ford Motor Company location must be designed in such a manner that it will not fall or topple over when standing unrestrained on a reasonably horizontal surface. The horizontal surface shall include,

13、 but not be limited to, a plant operations floor or the flatbed of a shipping trailer. 6. Instructions / Requirements 6.1 Equipment Design Requirements All manufacturing machinery shall be designed and packaged to facilitate safe handling and shall have lift points intended for moving and handling t

14、he equipment integrated into the design. All lift points must be clearly identified as such. 15、facturing Equipment Handling and Packaging Rev: fork pockets, eye bolts, or bollards. Fork pockets shall be 4“ tall by 12“ wide, with a center-to-center dimension between 22“ and 32“ with heavier or wider loads tending toward the 32“ center-to-center dimension for stability. The lift points must be

16、designed to support the machine or piece of equipment during handling operations. Component pieces of larger assembly and manufacturing systems that maybe broken down for shipment, shall have lift points integrated into the design of the component pieces and/or be packaged in such a manner where the

17、 packaging has lifts points integrated into its design. Machinery designed to be rolled or dollied into final position for use must have jack or roller points identified. 6.2 Machinery and Equipment Packaging Requirements All manufacturing machinery must be packaged in such a manner that the equipme

18、nt can be safely handled during unloading, transportation, and loading operations. Packaging shall be designed to prevent top heavy or otherwise unstable pieces of equipment and machinery from toppling or tipping. Packaging shall be designed to prevent contents from moving during transport. Manufact

19、uring machinery shall be restrained in such a manner that movement or damage will not occur during transport. Component pieces of assembly or manufacturing systems (i.e. conveyors and automation) shall be delivered with packaging designed to prevent the pieces from falling over. This may be accompli

20、shed by banding the component piece to a pallet with a broad enough base that will prevent it from tipping, delivering top heavy loads on their sides with proper lift points affixed, or other method that meets the intent of this standard. Any equipment on rollers, chains, wayslides, counter weights

21、or other means of movement must be properly blocked and braced. Unit loads of manufacturing machinery shall be packaged so that the designated lift points can be utilized to move and handle the equipment. In those cases where the packaging may inhibit the unloading of unit loads by utilizing the equ

22、ipments lift points, the packaging shall contain appropriate lift points for handling the equipment. Machinery shall be drained of fluids and capped prior to shipment. 6.3 Shipping Requirements Manufacturing machinery shall be delivered in a manner that facilitates safe unloading. The shipper shall

23、consider the hazards of the unloading process when equipment is loaded onto a truck or trailer for delivery to Ford Motor Company. Manufacturing machinery delivered on flatbed trailers shall be arranged in such a manner that forklift or rigging materials can access designated lift points. Manufactur

24、ing machinery shall not be shipped resting flush on the back of a flatbed trailer unless entry point space is provided for forks or rigging materials. In the event that transportation height restrictions require machinery or equipment to be placed flush on a trailer, overhead lift points shall be in

25、tegrated into the design. Loads that are deemed unstable or where overhead lifting points are not identified may be returned to the supplier at the suppliers expense. Personnel involved in unloading sh

27、all not be required to climb over machinery to attach lifting equipment. 6.4 Delivery Notification Prior to shipment or delivery of equipment notification shall be provided to the receiving location. The notification shall be provided to the organization and personnel responsible for coordinating re

28、ceipt of the equipment. The notification shall include at a minimum the following information: Estimated date of arrival to Ford Motor Company; Number of pieces; Name contact of carrier; Details of the load dimensions, weight; Lifting requirements; Lifting restrictions/limitations; Purchase order number.
