SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a ferritic, corrosion resistant steel coated with a type 1 aluminum alloy produced by the hot-dip process. The base material is non-hardening b

3、y heat treatment and has good weldability and forming properties. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for parts requiring a combination of heat and corrosion resistant properties such as exhaust system components. This material has a light coating and is used on parts requiring

4、 severe forming or deep drawing and spun parts such as the internal high frequency tubes of mufflers which have spun reduced sections. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Produ

5、ction Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 FABRICATION The quality level of steel supplied to manufacture a specific component is to be negotiated between the manufacturing activity and the steel supplier. Acceptance of subsequent orders by the steel supplier, for a given component at the agreed upon qua

6、lity level, implies that all steel supplied will be of a comparable quality level and will form that part satisfactorily as defined by the manufacturing activity. Tube weld properties, e.g. drift flare and crushing, shall be in accordance with corresponding uncoated tube processing route and materia

7、l grade. 9、ecimen specified in para 3.11 shall stand being bent at room temperature through 180 flat on itself without fracture of the base metal. The bend test may be made on coated material or after the coating has been stripped from the sample. 3.6 COATING The coating shall be applied to the base metal by t

10、he hot-dip process. The coated sheets shall be free from any organic coating or surface material that will adver

12、sely affect welding. 3.9 SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE, min 240 h (ASTM B 117/ASTM D 610) After 240 hours of salt spray testing, components must meet rust grade #7 or better per ASTM D 610. 3.10 COATING BEND TEST The bend test specimen specified in para 3.11 shall stand being bent at room temperature throug

13、h 180 over a diameter equal to two times the thickness of the specimen, without flaking or peeling on the outside surface of the bend. Flaking of coating within 6.0 mm of the edge of the test specimen shall be disregarded. A vice with smooth jaws, and operated by hand, shall be used for making the b

14、end test unless the gauge is such as to render this impracticable, in which case any practicable means may be used. 3.11 BEND TEST SPECIMEN Bend test specimens are to be 50 mm to 100 mm in width and shall be cut not less than 50 mm from the side and 100 mm from the end of the sheet or coil which is

15、coated. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 4.1 Unless otherwise specified on the Engineering Drawing, the heat affected zone of the continuous longitudinal tube weld shall be protected by means of aluminum repair process to meet minimum salt spray requirements.
