2、6-A1 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a low carbon steel coated with tin by the hot dip process. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for the fill neck spud on fuel tanks. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers
3、 and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 BASE METAL The base metal shall be a low carbon steel with good tinning characteristics and capable of being fabricated into the intended component. 3.3 TIN COATING Continuity and un
4、iformity of the coating is of primary importance since pitting and corrosion of the base metal is objectionable. The quality of the tin coating shall be controlled as follows: 3.3.1 Coating Thickness, each side, min. 6.35 micrometre (ASTM B 504) The number of measurements and their location shall be specified on the Engineering Drawing. 3.3.2 Porosity Rating 7 (ASTM B 545 appendix X4) 3.3.3 Adhesion No cracking, (ATSM B 545 appendix X2.4) peeling or blistering
