SCOPE This specification defines performance requirements for alloy coatings of zinc/nickel electrolytically deposited on ferrous surfaces from alkaline baths where corrosion protection treatment is required. A supplementary hexavalent chromium free co
3、ating and/or trivalent chrome may be applied. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally to define performance requirements for zinc/nickel alloy coatings with hexavalent chromium free conversion coatings over power steering lines. 3. REQUIREMENTS All requirements must be met to achie
4、ve acceptable field durability. No one requirement, exclusive of others, is capable of ensuring satisfactory performance. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111
5、-A). 3.2 PLATING THICKNESS, min 8 m (ASTM B 659) The plating thickness requirements identified above represent the minimum values and apply to all significant surfaces unless otherwise specified on the engineering drawing. In case of dispute, the thickness measurement umpire method shall be metallog
6、raphic sectioning per ASTM B 487. 3.3 ACCELERATED CORROSION RESISTANCE 768 h (ASTM B 117) Evidence of base metal red rust corrosion products on significant surfaces following testing when evaluated without supplementary magnification at normal reading distance constitutes failure. 9、tal effects of hydrogen embrittlement or other factors which result in part brittleness. All parts shall meet the requirements of WSS-M99A3-A. 4.
