APPLICATIONTh is specification was released originally for edgework requirements forsafety glass used in glazing motor vehicles. Edges shall be treated inac cordance with SAE recommended Practice J
3、673a, “Automotive Glazing“,August 1967, which is incorpora ted by reference in FMVSS 205, February 23,1984.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for m
4、aterial/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +
5、/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.L3.3 TYPE 1 CROWN, SEMI-SATIN FINISH EDGEDen otes radius as indicated, fine ground to a semi-satin finishhaving smooth even surface without luster. These gaps are known
8、as “shine rs“. Flake chips mayalso occur. Overlap or slip is permissible on these edges not toexceed 0 .8 mm. These edges are characteristic of edges which areconcealed but intended to slide in guides as vertical edges of doorlights, body lights, etc.Minimum radius 1/2 glass thicknessMaximum radius

Overlap of 0.8 mm permitted on flat glass, 1.6 mmpermitted on curved windshields only. Typical for framed laminatedglass and all heat treated safety float glass. Viny
10、l expulsion of0.76 mm maximum is permissible.3.6 TYPE 4 CLEAN CUT EDGEDenotes no further work on edges after laminating except removal ofex cess vinyl. Vinyl expulsion of 0.76 mm maximum is permissible.Flake chips which are not visible after glass is installed and do notmaterially affect strength of
11、 glass are permitte d. Overlap of 0.8 mmpermitted on flat body glass, 1.6 mm permitted on curved windshieldsonly. 13、manufacturers are not required to furnish a true radius on any edgewhere a radius is specified.The blu eprint shall show the minimum quality edge types only. Any typesuperior to that specified can be used.3.8 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall
14、bespecified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respect tothese properties shall be clearly designated on the engineeringdrawing.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equival
15、ent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials
16、ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be
17、 submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocum
