SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a solvent based adhesion promoting primer. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used t
3、o promote the adhesion of cyanoacrylate adhesives to polyolefin and other hard-to-bond plastics. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4
4、BLOCK SHEAR STRENGTH, min 10.3 MPa (ASTM D 4501) Wash two 25 x 25 x 6 mm polypropylene blocks with 1,1,1- trichloroethane, wipe dry and apply the primer to both surfaces. Air dry for 5 minutes at 25 C. Bond the blocks using cyanoacrylate adhesive at zero gap for 24 h. 3.5 STRESS CRACKING (FLTM BO 12
5、7-03, 1 % strain, 24 h at room temperature) There should be no evidence of cracking or crazing. 3.6 FLUORESCENCE Materials must fluoresce Test Method: . Place 1 to 3 drops of material on the unground side of a steel lapshear. . Dim overhead lights in the test area, as required. ENGINEERING MATERIAL

The black light shall be positioned approximately 76 - 100 mm above the sample. Visually observe the sample
7、to determine fluorescence. 3.7 OPEN TIME The material shall be dry to the touch prior to applying the cyanoacrylate adhesive. Maximum open time shall not exceed one hour and primer applied surfaces shall be kept free of contamination (e.g. dirt, heavy dust, oils, grease, alcohol, etc.). 3.8 ADHESION
8、 REQUIREMENTS Parts and/or laboratory samples assembled using this primer must be evaluated for conformance to the applicable cyanoacrylate adhesive specification indicated on the Engineering drawing. Full adhesive bond strength is achieved within 24 h at room temperature. 3.9 STORAGE STABILITY Shal
9、l be stored at the temperature range of 4 - 26 C in a tightly closed container away from all sources of heat such as ovens, direct sunlight, etc., and oxidizing materials. Under these storage conditions, the maximum shelf life of the material, from date of shipment from the supplier, shall be 12 mon

It shall be consistent in color and texture, and free from objectionable odors during normal storage. It shall be suitable for the intended appli
11、cation. 3.11 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior

Only one coat of primer is recommended; multiple coatings
14、 may result in reduced adhesion. Allow primed area to dry. The parts are then ready for bonding with cyanoacrylate adhesive. If the joint to be bonded consists of two polyolefin type materials, apply the primer to both surfaces. When the joint involves a bond between a polyolefin and a more active o

For optimum results, the cyanoacrylate adhesive should be applied within one hour of priming the surface. If necessary, the primer can be reapplied after 1 h.
