2、ification is a pressure sensitive,rubber/resin/asphalt composition sealer which is extrude d in round sectionsand reinforced with a polyester/cotton twine. 2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used for sealinggalv anized floor transmission covers. The polyester/cotto

3、n twinereinforcement facilitates the application for more effective sealing. 3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appro

4、priatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this

5、 specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the

6、same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.ENGI

Refer to para 5.3 foradditional information.3.6 SOLIDS,

8、min 99 %(ASTM D 2834, except heat at 100 +/-2 C for 3 h in a mechanical convectionoven)3.7 WEIGHT PER VOLUME(ASTM D 816)The weig ht tolerance for any one supplier shall be +/- 0.04 kg/L,based on the recorded weight of this originally approval productionsample. Refer to para 5.4 for additional inform

9、ation.3.8 NEEDLE PENETRATION 7 - 12 mm(ASTM D 1321, 150 g total load)3.9 YIELD STRENGTH, min 60 kPaTest Method: Yield cel ls consist of two 75 x 75 mm panels, preparedper para 5.1, one electrocoated steel panel and one oily galvanizedste el panel. To assemble, place two 8 mm diameter beads of sealer

10、equ idistant, 20 cm, from the center line of one panel. Cover withthe other panel and com press the cells 50 % for 1 minute per FLTM BU114-01. Condition the cell for 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C. Determine theyield strength of the y ield cells in tension by pulling in a tensilemachine with a jaw separation rat

11、e of 25 mm/minu te. Report peak loadand failure mode.3.10 FLEXIBILITY No crackingTest Method: Condition an “as received“ 100 x 8 mm sample on releasepaper at -30 +/- 1 C for 16 h. Bend 180 degrees around a temperatureconditioned 25 mm diameter mandrel. Repeat on a sample aged for 24h at 100 +/- 2 C.

12、3.11 WATER LEAK RESISTANCE No water leaksTest Assembly Preparation: A 275 x 8 mm length of sealer shall beapplied in a “U“ configuration to a 100 x 100 x 0.8 mm oily,galvanized steel panel prepared per para 5.1. A second 100 x 100 x0. 8 mm electrocoated steel panel prepared per para 5.1 shall beplac

13、ed over the sealer material. Place assembly in a tensile machineand apply 215 N (30 % compression) force to compress. Hold at the215 N compression for 1 minute. 14、he assembly at 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Standthe assembly on edge with the opening of the “U“ channel up. Fillthe channel to a depth of 100 m (approximately 13 mm from the topedge) with colored water and let stand for 24 h. Observe for anyevidence of water leaks.Note: Stand the test assembly on a sheet o

15、f white paper for easierwater leak detection.3.12 WATER ABSORPTION, max 5 %(FLTM BV 117-01, Method A, 8 h soak time)3.13 CORROSION RESISTANCE, min 500 h (ASTM B 117)No loss of adhesion or blistering of the material and no evidence ofcorrosion on the metal surface when subjected to salt spray.Test Me

16、thod: Apply two 300 x 8 mm beads of sealer to galvanizedpanels prepared per para 5.1. Pass a 2.2 kg roller over the panelper ASTM D 1000. Condi tion the panel 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C. Age theenameled panels for 16 h at 38 +/- 1 C. Apply a 100 x 8 mm sample ofsealer with finger pres sure to the enamel panels. Con

There shall be nodif ficulty in removing the material from its backing paper whenstored under these conditions. When th

24、ese materials are stored atte mperatures below 23 C, they shall be conditioned at roomtemperature prior to ap plication. 25、Materials being evaluated for initial approval to the specificationshall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial resultsshoul d be available to Design and Materials Engineering prior tomaterial approval and release.3.23 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or ma

26、nufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respectto these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineeringdrawing.3.24 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this spec

27、ification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchang

28、e s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new cod

29、e identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this spec

30、ification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the aff

31、ected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a

32、 nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications.
