SCOPEWSB-M4 G267-A4: The material defined by this specification is an extrudedtape form , heat expanding EPDM base sealer for use in areas where lowexpans ion is required. It is tacky on both sides.2. APPLICATIONThese specifications were relea
4、sed originally for materi al used in the bodyshop for sealing weld joints and openings where welding is not arequirem ent. The materials have good adhesion to CRLC andelectr ogalvanized steel substrates. The materials expand during theprocess bake schedules noted in para 5.3.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATI
5、STICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final p
6、roduct is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the
7、reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. 13、5.3. Position panels in a horizontal attitudeduring material bake. After ba ke, condition panels at 23 +/- 2 C for4 h mi n. 15、mechanical convection oven at 70 +/-2 C for 7 days . Condition the samples at 23 +/- 2 C for 1 hour.Place t he panels in the slamming apparatus (FLTM BV 101-02) at - 30+/- 2 C for 4 hours. Slam each panel a total of 10 times.3.14 RESISTANCE TO CORROSION 500 h(ASTM B 117)No los s of adhesion or blist

Form one of thepanels into the configuration s hown below. Place a
19、12 x 150 x 1.5 mmstrip of material on the 15 mm area of the formed panel. Weld thispanel to the flat panel placing one weld at each end (12 mm from theedge). Immerse the entire fixture into a 50 degree C constanttemper ature water bath for 20 minutes. Remove from bath and bake atmaterial cure schedu
20、les per para 5.3. The fixture should remain inan uprigh t position (i.e. funnel end up) during the baking process.After bake, condition at 23 +/- 1 C for 1 h. Seal each end of thefunnel end of the fixture to form a trough. Place fixture in a visegrip, trough side up. Fill the trough with water at 23
21、 +/- 1 C. Aima 5 mm diameter air nozzle set at 0.2 MPa line pressure into bottomof fix ture and make lengthwise passes along bondline for 30 seconds.Hold ai r nozzle approximately 25 mm from bottom of fixture. No airshould pass through sealer mate rial. Allow fixture to sit for 1 hourat 23 +/- 1 C w

25、terialblocking is not permitted during container shipping or storage.3.22 STORAGE STABILITYShall be stored below 40 C away from all sources of heat and sunlight.Under these storage conditions, the shelf life of the material shallbe 3 mon ths. When these materials are stored at temperatures below23 C
26、, they shall be conditioned at room temperature prior toapplication. Adequate conditioning permits the material to obtain itsoptimum application properties. 3.23 FUNCTIONAL APPROVALMaterials being evaluated for a pproval to this specification shall besubj ected to a production trial. Functional tria

28、lied to this specification must be equ ivalent in allchar acteristics to the material upon which approval was originallygranted.Prio r to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of the mater ial originallyapproved under this specificati on, whethe
29、r or not such changes affectthe materials ability to meet the specification requirements, theSupplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affectedMaterials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain thewritten approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data,test sam pl
30、es and a new code identification are to be submitted withthe request.Substa nce restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply toth e materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials def
31、ined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval oftheir mat erials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffecte d Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall
32、submit to the affected Materials Engineeringact ivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized repres entative of the test facility, demonstratingfu ll compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), t he mat
33、erial designation and code number, andtest spec imens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateria l will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassess ment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications.
