2、efines the minimum durability and performance requirements of a coated window molding. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released for coated window molding material used in the backlite assembly. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform t

3、o Quality System Requirements, QS-9000. Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan for ongoing production verification is required. This plan must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materials activity and/or Ford Supplier Tech

4、nical Assistance (STA) prior to production parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data and assure consistent processing of the materials. Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must conform to a proc

5、ess control plan which has been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermogr

6、ams established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING AND TES

7、T CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 8、8P11-A2 Page 2 of 6 3.4 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) The coverage of the coating on production parts, as well as, the color, pattern, and finish, shall match the approved Design Center master sample, or shall be as specified on the engineering drawing. 3.5 CONSTRUCTION 3.5.1 Coated Molding Descriptio

9、n As specified on engineering drawing The coating shall be non-staining and shall be compatible in color with the molding. The coating shall not become soft, tacky or exhibit blistering or delamination after any of the tests outlined in this specification. 3.6 ADHESION Adhesion of the coating layer

10、to the substrate shall be uniform over the entire part. Adhesion shall be such that the coating layer may not be peeled or separated intact from the substrate material. 3.7 COMPATIBILITY The coating materials or other surface treatments utilized to achieve a coating to the substrate shall not advers

11、ely affect the physical properties of the substrate material. 3.8 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES The following requirements shall be assessed on sections of the windshield assembly and must include all materials and constructions, e.g., molded corners, bright inserts, etc. Separate specimens are required for

12、 each test. The parts as received and after being subjected to the exposures listed below shall conform to the following requirements: . No cracking, discoloration, iridescence, bloom, milkiness, separation or loss of embossment allowed. . In addition, there shall be no evidence of shrinkage or inco

13、mpatibility between materials of construction. . The prescribed test to identify if coating is present or not present on a window molding shall be done as identified in paragraph 5.1. This simplified test will be run before and after the following exposures. All assessments shall be carried out with

14、in 1 h of reaching 23 +/- 2 C unless otherwise specified. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSB-M98P11-A2 Page 3 of 6 3.8.1 Heat Aging (ISO 188, except 150 +/- 50 air changes/h) (336 h at 88 C +/- 2 C) 3.8.2 Humidity Exposure (14 days at 38 +/- 1 C, 95 - 100 % RH) 3.8.3 Environmental Cycling Test F

15、ive cycles; each cycle consist of the following: 4 h at 100 +/- 2 C 4 h at 38 +/- 2 C, 95 - 100 % RH 16 h at - 40 +/- 2 C 4 h at 38 +/- 2 C, 95 - 100 % RH 4 h at 100 +/- 2 C 16 h at - 40 +/- 2 C 3.8.4 Water Immersion (FLTM BI 104-01, 240 h) 3.8.5 Thermal Shock Resistance (FLTM BI 107-05) The coating

16、 shall exhibit no loss of adhesion when subjected to the following cycle: . 4 h water immersion at 32 +/- 1 C . 4 h minimum exposure at - 29 +/- 2 C 3.8.6 Heat Resistance (30 minutes at 120 +/- 2 C 3.9 RESISTANCE TO CROCKING, min 150 cycles (FLTM BN 107-01) The adhesion between the coating and the s

17、ubstrate shall be resistant to cleaning solvents and shall not be adversely affected, such as loss of coating, when rubbed with individual cloths saturated with each of the following materials: . Windshield Washer solvent WSB-M8B16-A2 or a currently released windshield washer fluid. ENGINEERING MATE

Acid Resistance 0.5 N H2SO4 solution . Naphtha M14J136-A 3.10 RESISTANCE TO WAXING AND DEWAXING No coating rem

19、oval, spots, (not required in North America) or any discoloration. (FLTM BO 155-01 Test Method: Apply waxing material per FLTM. Then perform paragraph 3.9 under “Soap“ to identify any coating removal, spotting, or any discoloration. 3.11 STAINING After exposure in accordance with 3.8.1. the material

20、 shall cause no staining in excess of specified AATCC rating. (AATCC Scale for Transference of Color, 10 Step). 3.11.1 Contact and Migration Staining of Paint (FLTM BP 153-01, Procedure A and B) Slight contact staining permitted Rating 4 min 3.12 WEATHERING RESISTANCE After exposure in accordance wi

21、th 3.12.1, 3.12.2, and 3.12.3, the material shall show no fading or color change in excess of specified Gray Scale rating (AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1/ISO 105-A02). In addition, there shall be no cracking, crazing, coating loss, or other deterioration. A slight loss of gloss or chalking will be all

22、owed provided an acceptable appearance can be achieved by washing with mild detergents and water (ratio 5:95 by volume), or equivalent, after the Florida exposure. All initial approvals will be based on the preliminary Weatherometer exposure, pending Florida exposure results for final approval. 3.12

25、is specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not s

26、uch changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and

27、 a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defi

28、ned by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall

29、submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the mat

30、erial designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the
