、DSHIELD WASHER CONCENTRATE, INITIAL WSD-M8B16-A FILL, SVC NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a solution containing surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, water and dye to give the desired characteristics. Alcohol may be included as an antifreeze agent. 2
、. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for initial fill of windshield washer systems. It provides protection against biological growth and corrosion during shipping and vehicle storage. The addition of alcohol provides protection against freezing. 3. REQUIREMENTS
、3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS The material must comply with an accepted international, national or industry standard spe
、cification. Examples of standards which may be acceptable are JIS K 2398 or other automotive manufactures internal standards. The standard should be submitted to the responsible Materials Engineering Activity along with all qualifying data to assess suitability. Evidence is also required of material
、 usage by other automotive manufacturers or post production usage. Additional testing may be required on materials specific to Ford. 3.3 COLOR The material must contain a stable dye which produces a clear, light blue coloration to the final diluted state. Where freezing protection is not required the dilution agent should be water, p
、referable demineralized. Where freezing protection is required the concentrate should contain an alcohol or be diluted with a water/ alcohol mixture. Alcohols suitable as antifreeze agents are as follows: AGRAR Reclaimed Ethanol. Propan-2-ol (isopropyl alcohol, isopropanol). Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
、with suitable denaturant. Methanol (methyl alcohol). Propan-2-ol is preferred from a safety/toxicity viewpoint but has the poorest cleaning effect. AGRAR reclaimed ethanol is preferred from an environmentally friendly viewpoint and has a better cleaning effect. Methanol is significantly more toxic a

Functional trial results shall be evaluated by the responsible Systems Engineering and Materials Engineering activities prior to material approval and release.
