、N 1. SCOPE These specifications define long life, high pressure, impulse resistant EPDM rubber coolant hose internally reinforced with a variety of synthetic fibers. These hoses are resistant to electrochemical degradation (striations). 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally fo

、r materials used for branched trunk hose applications where resistance to long term impulse is required at 120 C continuous use with short term exposures up to 140 C. When used with the proper fittings and constant tension clamps they also have excellent sealability down to -40 C. 3. REQUIREMENTS Ma

、terial specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 HOSE CONSTRUCTION The ho

、ses shall have a smooth bore inner tube free of visible defects or debris. The EPDM tube is to be resistant to hot engine coolant and resistant to electrochemical deterioration. The reinforcement is to be one or more plies of synthetic fiber embedded in and bonded between tube and cover and free of

、2 of 6 “A1“ hoses are reinforced with para-aramid fibers which is suitable for minimal levels of impulse and/or flex conditions such as in upper and lower radiator applications. “A2“ hoses are reinforced with meta-aramid fibers which should be specified where higher levels of impulse and/or flex res

、istance are required. These hoses are primarily used for heater and bypass applications. “A3“ hoses are reinforced with rayon fibers and should be used only in applications where the temperature does not exceed 120 C. These hoses are primarily used for lower radiator applications. “A4“ hoses are rei

、nforced with modified para-aramid fibers (higher elongation than standard para-aramid) or copolymer para-aramid fibers. These hoses should be specified where higher levels of impulse and/or flex resistance are required. (The degree of flex resistance is between that of the hoses described in the “A1

、“ and “A2“ specifications.) These hoses are primarily used for heater and bypass applications. 3.5 SPECIMEN PREPARATION The following tests, wherever possible, shall be performed on finished hoses and/or test specimens cut from them in accordance with ASTM D 3183. For small diameter hoses, hoses wit
