2、Whendried, they become resilient, tightly adhered, non-curing sealing films fortapered or straight threads. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is suspendedin the film for thread lubrication and torque/tension control. The productis applied to the fastener in a band completely surrounding the desiredthre

3、ads. Drying of the film must immediately follow the coatingapplication, in 65 - 70 C ovens with high air flow, to ensure desired filmintegrity.2. APPLICATIONThese specifications were originally released for materials used to sealthreaded parts. These materials are used in engine applications to prev

A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyz

9、e process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms es

10、tablished for initial approval shallconstitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITION

14、ved supplierbased on process and materials originally approved by the MaterialsEngineering Department. Process sheet to be on file at the approvingmaterials activity and at the adhesive applicator.3.8 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufactured parts shall bespecifi

15、ed on the Engineering drawing, Engineering parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respect tothese properties shall be clearly designated on the engineeringdrawing.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall

16、characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of the materialoriginally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet

17、 the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with t

18、he request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the applic

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval oftheir materials shall first obtain an expression of i

20、nterest from theaffected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory report to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspe

21、cimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5.
