2、ma terials defined by these specifications are waterbased one pack lowbake basecoats for 90 C baking temperature. They must be coated with anadditional clear coat.2. APPLICATIONThese s pecifications were released originally for materials used as twocoat basecoat on primed plastic bumpers. The materi

3、als m ay also be used forother exterior plastic applications such as radiator grilles or body sidemoldings, (see 5.1).3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is re

4、quired for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l a

5、nalysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to th

6、e reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame

12、 3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.6.1 Substrate (see also 5.1)Polycarbonate, polyurethane, polypropylene as specified onEngineering Drawing; test panels shall have smooth surface.Note: PP/EPDM plastics must be primed with an ad hesion primerprior to painting.3.6.2 Plastic PreparationThe surface to be

19、UPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pr ior to making any changes in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally

20、 approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials

21、 Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe mat erials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P999

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials En

23、gineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their lab

24、oratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtest specimens for Ford evaluation. In additi

25、on to meeti ng the requirementsof thi s specification, the materials will be assessed for suitability forintended applications as part o f the approval process. Upon approval, thematerial will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe information given below
