APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for material used as two packprimer for various exterior applications such as radiator grilles, bodyside moldings, etc., made from Polyamide, Polycarbonate, ABS, chrome plated
3、ABS, e tc., prior to the application of top coats. The primer is suitablefor us e with solvent based solid colour topcoats and with water based aswell as solvent based basecoats in combination with clearcoat.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Qu
4、ality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/O
5、R THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated mater
6、ial lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAl l Tests according to this specification shall be performed in acontrolled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 - 65 % relative humidityif

After the storage the material must pass allspecification requirements.3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.6.1 SubstrateABS, Polyamide, Polycarbonate or Polypropylene as specifiedon Engineering Drawing.Note: PP/EPDM plastics must

13、e.3.6.3 Primer application (see also 5.2)Dry film thickness: 25 - 35 micrometre;Flash off time: 3 minutes;Baking: 15 minutes at 8 0 C, for Polyamide also 10 minutes at120 C (Object temperature).3.6.4 Top coat applicationApplication of currently used two pack top coat systems, filmth ickness and baki
14、ng as specified in the relevant materialspecification.3.6.5 Use as a Repair Primer (only if used in the plant)The primed part shall b e sanded through to bare substrate inthe centre in an area of 30 mm diameter with 400 sandingpaper an cleaning petrol and than wiped with a clean cloth.Priming and pa

18、, theresult ant paint film shall meet all requirements of performancespecification WSK-M2P143-A.3.12 QUALITYThe primer must be adaptable for application in accordance with theappropriate Ford Motor Company Process Specification.The primer must be compatible with all related materials.3.13 SUPPLIERS
19、RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pr ior to making any changes in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approved
20、 under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineer
21、ingactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unl
22、essa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first o
23、btain an expression of interest from theaffect ed Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation an
24、d code number, and testspecimen s for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
