2、 part of a two pack airdrying or forced drying refinishing primersystem . It is to be used in combination with the appropriate hardener inthe ratio suggested by the supplier.2. APPLICATIONThis speci fication was released originally for a material to be used inconjunction with the designated hardener

3、 component as a priming system forsand-through areas on exterior automotive body surfaces.The prim er is applied directly over the substrate following damage andsand-through. The primed surfac e may then be lightly sanded and overcoatedwi th either acid catalysed body stoving enamel or an approved t

4、wo packrepair e namel system depending on the particular stage in the paintingprocess in which the damage has been sustained in.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedther

5、ein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continually reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company in its option, may conduct in frared and/or t

6、hermalana lysis of materials/parts supplied to this specification. The IRspectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated Material Laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspo

7、nd to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING Test panels with stoved paint systems shall be aged for 72 h at 23+/- 2 C or 16 h at 43 +/- 2 C before testing for resistanceproperties unless otherwise specified.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M6J172-A1WP 3948

13、8 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.8.1 FLTM BI 103-02Prepare standard painte d test panels in accordance with testmethod ie, phosphated t est panels, UMA 18004 or 18005 coatedwith current body painting system; cathodic electrocoat,primer surfacer, and topcoat enamel.3.8.2 Spot Repair SimulationRub th rou

14、gh the standard paint system 3.8.1 to bare steelusing the “feathering technique“ with the approp riate wet/drysand p aper. Clean the created spot-repair area with anappropriate degreasing solvent, then allow to dry and “tackoff“.Mix the hardener and primer in the recomended ra tio and applythree coa

15、ts of the two pack primer system, 25 - 35micrometres.Enamels containing acid catalyst. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials address

21、ed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall fir

22、st obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of t

23、he test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this spe

24、cification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.5.
